You may have better luck in the sales field I was told sales positions can be a lucrative way to make a living. You tried the trucking route and to keep trying to find a place to work is the key to sucess, don't stop trying.
I just dropped out of truck school, did I do the right thing?

He isn't asking for your sympathy he simply asked for advice and a little compassion.Whould you talk to your child that way if he asked you for advice?

Nighthawk, you said you have no manual transmission experience. Do you know someone who has a manual transmission car who would be willing to teach you to drive it? Getting that basic understanding down first, as a pre-cursor to learning to drive a 10 speed..., I believe would help you!

My dad when he got back from vietnam on his 3rd tour in jan of '73 he had such bad traumas it took him little over a yr to pull his mind together, we lived out the back of our van for that time yes he did everthing he could for us I remember one job lasted about 6 hrs, he lied his way into driving a huge front loader loading logs on timber trks but that little money he made was exactly what we needed to survives. And you to will find a way to feed your family have determination, drive and patience it will come to you.

second bad choice was the school, when you teach you must project otherwise your student will not learn. Your instructor does not need to be a teacher. You can not learn under pressure, I've trained several in my days and found out when they make a mistake I will joke as I can't add to their frustration, frustration is not productive. Your mistake was putting up with that guy. That school had no structure. Don't drop out simply change schools. Getting that CDL is very important and you must take a road test, where you going to come up with a truck to take the test in? That's why it's improtant that you stay in school. Some truck lines wont hire you for any job such as working on the dock without that CDL. working on the dock pay around 20.00 bucks and hour with the better companys.
This is a one two three punch, Third and final thing, get all this in order and hold you head high and loose that defeatist attitude and it will reflect in you and your family.Mother bird must leave the nest to feed her babys, follow her lead, I guess that's why they say, "the early bird get the worm" Behind that saying; Whoever arrives first has the best chance of success; some opportunities are only available to the first competitors,
Let me put this thing also, Community College is fine but you've got to feed your family and trucking there are many opportunities, get your head in this game, we are all pulling for you......
