Maybe I dont know how to talk to people. I thought I gave him some solid advice in stay out of trucking. I used to work on the water before trucking and the number one thing that most people cant get over be it trucking or towboating is being away from home. I have seen alcoholics and drug addicts make it a month without alcohol or drugs but one phone call from home can cause a man to lose his mind. Either you can do it or you cant. But if you keep reading his posts and he complains about missing his kids, the instructor is too hard, the office doesnt care, the other students, the truck is junky. In his shoes you have to think I am going to get through this no matter what. Then when he gets his CDL and some experience he had lots of opportunities. Instead its just back to the couch.

I can see where you may have thought that...I went back and re-read some of the posts, But still when a rookie needs a little push or some encouragement...the best way is to show them that you've been there yourself...and that if they really apply themselves they can make it...that is the reason I said when he gets couple years with the beverage hauler he might check-out a real trucking job.

I tend to fly off at folks sometimes myself...I used to say it was just my way of dealing with stress...but I learned that if you take a second look real quick before you engage the mouth..it works out better....In other words I started listening to my wife...smart gal too.....

Yes, that makes you the one with the attitude problem. Ok, not really, but picking on someone for spelling and grammar is not a good idea around here. You may want to read Spelling and TTR

I had alot of better things to say and some techniques to motivate people but I was contacted by a moderator on here recently and they said they would no longer tolerate that type of attitude or language on here. Maybe I will tone it down a knotch and turn into Mr Nice. Probably not.

I think Real Deal was just keeping it real.

I went to a crappy school with crappy equipment. I still learned.

Now I'm a trainer with a large company. I've seen what happens when someone does not admit to themselves it's not for them. That's a lot of wasted time and energy.

I say get back out their and try again. This ain't no luxury vacation everyone is talking about. It's A mother Fing JOB. This is a Job. Do hard and you will get rewarded. If you graduate odds are you are gonna have to do OTR. But hey like everyone else said. Trucking is what you make of it. If you work hard you are gonna do good. If you slack off you are gonna fail. Give it some thought is this something you want to do. You can always go fast food. Can you say
"Would you like fries with that XD. "

Trucking isn't for everybody. It's hard and takes special ppl to do this job and succeed. What you did by quitting is very common in this industry.Maybe sometime down the road you'll be up for trucking and have full confidence.I think for now just stay at home with your family and find a non trucking job. Please don't let this get you down, trucking sucks anyway.Low pay, low respect, low everything.

Please stop butchering my native language. Geez.

You should have used the $4000 to get yourself a decent High School education.

Seriously, if I had kids of young age, I wouldn't drive a truck OTR. There are local jobs available. TTR even has a listing of them. Go back to the school and see if you can finish. You can drive a local dump truck and make decent money. You will be working overtime in the summer months.

What kind of sales route did you have? Maybe you can start your own route even if it's out of the back of your car. I knew someone that did that selling doughnuts and muffins to local food marts. He had a account with a local mom and pop bakery that made everything for him. All he had to do was get customers and deliver the morning grub. I love fresh blueberry muffins.
