What is it with all these auto only restrictions?? While it may be the cool thing, it severly limits a persons ability to get a job, especially if something happens that you can't work OTR or for a mega company.

CR England only drives autos and couldn't care less if you are employable elsewhere.

When the CDL went into affect, the county I lived in had to get the guys on the county road crews cdl's they were no longer exempt. The commissioners paid for their license, but would not let them get any endorsements, as they were afraid if they were qualified drivers that they would find better paying jobs. They were not thinking, they then had to hire a driver to pull the lowboy, the water tanker trailer truck and the belly dumps, I fricken loved it.

CR England mostly does it because they just don't have any manuals anymore. Their schools only have Autos, they only drive autos. That it is harder to leave them with that Auto-Only restriction is just icing on the cake. They do tell you that you can rent a manual and test out when you go on your home time, but that is about it.

A lot of companies are switching to auto. It's easier to learn, better on gas mileage and safer for the driver. I understand why. And just because CR England isn't a great company doesn't mean they're doing it to be dicks.

Oh, I wasn't saying they were doing it to be dicks. Just putting out the facts. No company wants an employee to leave unless they are fired.

I was at CR England's school in SLC about 3 weeks ago. I left there before I tested because I started to do all the research. Decided I would prefer to NOT be under a contract with them, nor any other company, and went home and enrolled in a local CDL school.
