Thats exactly it....the thing is with the elogs you can be caught for that up to a year after that, your drivers card holds 30 days records which you're obliged to carry in Europe but they can plug in a hand held device and pull up every infringement over the course of the last year, and they do enforce it to the minute. In my opinion the do nothing for safety or the welfare of the driver as they claim, in fact drivers get home a lot less than before they came into use as companies unwilling to go over the hours rules are making drivers stay away from home to cut out the journey home, companies that always ran 1 week away are now running drivers away up to 3 weeks

I agree Scania man, nothing to do with safety, just about putting money in the fat cats pockets and justifying the jobs of those who could care less about our quality of life.

The reason I stay "lost" these days is mainly because of "safety freaks" like you who want to push their likes and way of thinking on other people.
IE: We all must have E Logs because you have to have them and like them.
I realize your stuck in that company driver mentality, have someone else "control" everything you do while driving a truck BUT please let us who can manage without goverment control, keep doing so -
You hear some of the best stuff in hear--sometimes I think there should be a cover charge to this LMAO

Been on elogs since the summer of 2012. As soon as I heard about them, I knew the sheep would be for it...after all, who but they would find electronic cattle prods useful? So I picked up my pace and started running 11 straight through in 2009. Was still able to run 800+ miles on elogs. The main reason I wanted to try them was because I had drivers tell me that they couldn't get more than 600 miles a day in. They were wrong.
The thing that got me was the number of drivers that were for elogs because, "My dispatcher can't force me to drive anymore. I feel safer." I have never had a dispatcher force me to drive. If anything, they would say to me, "Where are you? Already?" When I pulled reefer years ago, we drove 14 hours a day, ran 1000 miles a day, and home every weekend. They were paying $.30-.36cpm in those days. Do the math: 1000x$.30=$300x5=$1500/week gross AND home every weekend. For a reefer truck. I hear you guys crying about money, making only $400'ish a week and staying out for 6 weeks at a time. "Oh, but that's SAFER." Reaaaaaallly? Being stuck in a truck for weeks on end, eating junk food, getting real fat, depression setting in because you can't go home and you're not making any money, but this way is "safer"? I don't get that one.
"Oh, but I have a condo sleeper with an APU with a workstation. Feels like home." Yeah, keep telling yourself that. And on top of that, they put TWO of you in one truck. And you STILL think it's a good idea? And you're still sitting 3 days a week???? Mind boggling. It's like sharing underwear and shoes with another man. "Hey Roy, is that your cheese stain or mine?"
Then you get online to post what's wrong with the industry. -
Picked up a wind blade in Grand Forks a few weeks ago. Small blade, I was 170 ft long. Got to running down the road, and that 30 minute break crap comes up. Where the hell am I supposed to go for a 30 minute break? Hit an on ramp, and sent my pilot cars out to refuel. I walked around the load, checked the chains, and kicked the tyres, made a post here and 30 minutes are up. What an incredibly stupid waste of time. Where's the safety in making trucks jump off and right back on the highway?
