Is there a way to transfer all the Address Book entries that I have in my current TND 710 to a new TND 720?

I don't have a hot spot plan with phone (I'm not OTR so I don't feel I need it) I could see how it would be a BIG plus for you guys/gals who run the long hauls.

I don't know. But my guess would be yes. You can import your miles onto your lap top.

Update...So far I'm liking the unit more all the time. It has issues with the mapping (But I think that's Nav Teq, not RM) sometimes. I'm waiting for the map updates to see how much gets corrected. I read they're a year behind. One thing my Garmin has that I wish this unit had (and this is more a geeky/fun thing) is different voices with color commentary and custom cars/trucks. Mark can you add custom (a shiny gas tanker for instance) trucks? I'm waiting to hear the issues with the "Real time" traffic updater are resolved before I buy it. One disadvantage I have is not knowing what the previous units had. I think it was a MAJOR oversight not to include blue tooth. Any questions for me ?

Not a deal breaker for some of us- can hear better and do voice control better through a headset. Mic embedded in the device picked up way too much ambient noise and couldn't hear the speaker well enough to carry a conversation.

If you are computer savvy then yes. I have not tried the backup/restore on the New Dock yet to see if it will between models.

If you are computer savvy E-Mail me and I will give you the path.

    Thanks,

Traffic receiver is still in debug mode.

You cannot add custom Icons, but I will submit it to my boss.

Blue tooth is a finicky thing. Survey's done at Truck shows place Blue Tooth as a not interested item to have on a GPS.. But, with more products going Blue Tooth this can change.

    Thanks,

Mark, are the batteries on the 720 replaceable? My reason is some suggest you cycle the batteries once a month, run them to near dead and then give them a full charge. What's your take on all this?

Well this Mark just keeps his 720 plugged in period. I do not believe the batteries are user accessible but I could be wrong. You might want to take this question to Mark's thread. It's dedicated to all these RM units. Also, just from general knowledge, discharging all the way down isn't necessary on all batteries. Think it just applied to those ni-cad- cause the could develop a memory. Don't it's much of an issue on more modern batteries or equipment.

They are not the memory type of batteries. Most companies are going to the Lithium Ion type since they hold no "memory" if you do not discharge/charge them. As K7TKR stated, I keep my plugged in 24 hours a day for weeks on end only to plug into the computer or put in my car. I run both AC and DC to test units.

    Thanks,
