    I'm looking at getting a truck (somewhat like PharmPhil) and basically buying myself a job. Here is a real simple question - I don't need the "It's a horrible time to to get into the the truckin biz'.

    How important is the overdrive on a 13sp 550hp Volvo? Thinking I'll be pulling a 53' Reefer.

    I dont understand. Overdrive is when the stick is in the bighole and the thumbsplitter is foward. Is that the only gear its not working in? Do you have 12th gear?
    BTW, whats the rear end gear ratio? How important is the overdrive? On an OTR truckl, I wouldnt drive it without it...save big $$$ in fuel. On a local truck, it wouldnt hurt as bad.

    All eaton and meritor 13spds are O/D... Eatons have what is commonly refered to as a dbl OD with 12th being .86 13th being .73 while meritor has a single over of 13th being .87.
