Eskimo that 06 is no where close to used up yet. Keep using it yourself. But thats an opinion from a guy that has more than twice that many miles on his truck.
Down falls I see to this plan is with no credit check you do not know what kind of bum you will get leasing your truck.
If he defaults you have no way of dinging his credit like he would deserve.
I know you have the carrier deducting lease payment and maintenance but who is to say the leaser is really maintaining your equipment to your standards?
Whats to stop the leaser from canceling his current lease where you are getting your payments and skipping in the night with a new lease and you have no way of even knowing where the guy is to send your repo man after him???
I see too many pitfalls against the potential gain, but thats my opinion.
I think it would be cheaper to take the bath on either trade in or out right sale than to go this route.
Good luck with what ever you decide works best for you. -
I agree with you Brick that the truck is still basically new. The two trucks that I personally drive are a '96 T600 with almost 2 million on it, and a 99 W900L that I bought to tinker with. The problem is twofold though. First, I have to keep my drivers happy and new trucks is one way I do it. Second, for the type of work I do, I need top notch equipment. Late loads due to breakdown or not taking loads due to a truck being in a shop are unnacceptable. I know a new truck can and does breakdown as well, but it is much easier to explain to my customer that a "new" truck broke down than to tell them that a 7 year old truck broke down. They would say "why are you driving trucks that old anyway?".

I hear ya.
Bronc's truck in the last about 400,000 miles only was late delivering a load once. About the same stats as what you could expect from a "new" truck.
96 T600 with well over a million miles. -
If that 06 T600 had a cummins I might trade ya for my large car
But I doubt I would get 5.6 to 6.2 with it pulling an open car hauler running at 75 mph.

You could always go the RYder route and require weekly mileage reports and mandated maintenance intervals if you want to get that involved.
Just because you don't check a guys credit report doesn't mean you can't put a strike on his credit does it? if so then chek it but just don't be too concerned about it. Heck the dealers are getting to the point where they will give trucks to anyone willing to sign there name anyways. -
Either way, that is the truck that is in the body shop right now and will probably be totalled out by the insurance company thanks to an Arnold driver. The W9 is sitting out in my shop with a severe oil leak(like 3 gallons a week worth of severe) that I am pretty sure is coming from the rear main seal. I will probably end up going down to the dealer this week and buy a new truck and give it to one of my drivers and I will take his 06 and make it mine to replace the one that is tore up. I really don't want to do that as I would rather keep my old 96 but I may not have a choice. -
now there's a boss for ya. Give you the new truck and takes your old one!!! most smaller companies I worked for you got the bosses hand me downs. Then again it's a different world now. And i'm not working for them anymore am I?
