the otr i do doesn't include a dump truck full of top soil, chunks of concreter, rock, road base etc but it does include dumping a 53ft full of a product dumped on the ground.

and i'd stay there. in the winter time, does your company have snow plowing contracts for condo properties, or the city/town/state? if so, that's a money maker right there for you as well.

i get that peace and quiet with my job, and i am home daily, weekends and all holidays, and frankly no OTR inconveniences. we guys that work for our employer show up at the warehouse, get loaded by the customer, then deliver. we have no real need for the boss to contact us, nor we to him, unless in case of an emergency or a company safety meeting either at our warehouse, or at a predetermined location for many of the other drivers from the different locations can get to. in fact, he will only call us too for our random drug screening, and tell us, "any day you can get there, as long as it's before Friday".

we have NO time limit to get to a random. can't beat that type of job.

which "could be" one of the many reasons why there is such a large turnover rate, compared to us older guys that had it much more tougher. heck, we also did not have cell phones, or in cab communications like Qualcomm.

todays "youth" want everything, but simply wants it handed to them rather than they actually work for it.

back in my day, many of us, left home for weeks at a time, came home, and Jr that was in kindergarten, was now graduating college..

today's "younger generation" of steering wheel holders" simply do not wish to work as hard or long as we did. they want to be with thier families and not miss out on what many of us did. and still want the money...

Again, another broad generalization that isn't necessarily true, but thanks for making assumptions
