    I am residing in California and moving right now is not an option, I want to obtain my own Operating Authority but I do not want to start it in this state (California) with AB5 looming around the corner and high taxes, I'd like to start it elsewhere. Has anyone else executed this? I am open to turning my CDL in if need be to another state. I just need to know how to do it. Will I run into IFTA and IRP issues? Should I do it in a neighboring state or Wyoming or Mississippi?....Help anyone!

    @Dave_in_AZ maybe can help.
    South Dakota may be the easiest, but I'll let someone else take it from here.

    Nevada. I'm sitting at the bar at the Peppermill in Reno right now and everything looks wonderful. Tomorrow when I wake up everything will also look wonderful. I would like to buy some property here some day. I will buy some extra land and we could start your new carrier here when your ready. Not sure about right now but back when I was a carrier rates between Reno and California were great BOTH WAYS.

    Theres gonna be all kinds of work for those of us who stay in Ca. All I've been seeing lately is "AB5 and I'm outa here" all over the forum. I got more work than I can handle as it is, keep it pushing.

    I'm in cali. In the process of starting my own authority. Goes active oct 29th. I'm moving in a couple of months. So I thought I could do this Theres really no way to do it unless you start after you move. To get your irp(plates) states require you prove residency in that state. So I'm starting it in cali. Then moving everything when I move. If you're able to prove residency in the other state I think you could do it. Itll require more then just a DL in that state though

    The want the physical address in the other state So they can check it out. Dot was gonna show up & make sure a truck or trucks & all necessary paperwork was there. They are cracking down on people registering high dollar rv's in another no tax state & only having a po box. Or someone's address they know.

    Wyoming is actually where I wanted to register. I attached a screenshot from the state to be able to get your plates in WY After seeing it I realized I had to do it in cali

    I don't know.

    I'd like to relocate to a state with 0 income tax.

    All the Ol Iron runs up to Phoenix now and stops, and has basically destroyed the Phoenix market.
