Looking to change jobs. Going through Man-0-pause I think. 48yrs old . Divorced 8 yrs. No house ownership, only see my kids (younger ones) every other weekend. Hate my job so much I'm prob going to take a $20,000 a yr cut in pay to do this. This is how much I am needing a change. All my uncles drove truck. Have a cousin been doing it for 40 plus yrs and still going. I really want to try this. I have done endless hours on this forum and many things to consider. I have a little money saved so maybe I can pay for the schooling. However, these places like swift and crst and a few others all have there share of horror stories and I imagine most problems ppl had were brought on by something they were doing or not understanding what they were there for. I'm looking for getting experience and these tips of schools seem to be the way to go for beginners . Looking for any advice. Thanx for the help and stay safe!
I live in Miwaukee,wi.

Take a vacation and really think about it. Trucking today is not what it used to be,everyone has their hand in your pocket. Please think about living in a truck eating out all the time showering at truck stops the whole experience gets old real fast. You will not have the freedom to do anything as your job dictates when and where and how long you can do things. I wish you the best, but please think long and hard before you take the plunge into the insanity that trucking has become. This comes after 30 plus years in the business.I often sit at my desk now after 4 years out of driving and listen to my drivers talk and I get the itch but think about all that comes with it and I snap back to reality. Again good luck to you.

I've said it before, "What ever you think trucking is, it isn't". With that being said, venture forward and good luck.......it just might be YOUR cup of tea.

if you really want to get into this ####. Good luck. But living in milwaukee best place to start would be Millis Transfer or Roehl. i did roehls school years ago it only cost me 500 out of pocket. Rest was waived if i stayed 1 year.
