So as I'm heading to Salt Lake I am noticing my odometer, which is past 492k, and remembering that my b-service is coming up.
I QC my DM and tell him that after I deliver this load I will head to the SLC terminal for my service.
I get to my first stop, unload (my very first ever driver unload, by the waythank you very much), get to my final and get a QC message that my b-service is due and it better be done in 7 days or I will be put OOS.
That's OK, I'm headed there soon as I off-load these bathtubs.
So I get to SLC terminal, unhook my trailer, get to the service desk and the guy says...
"B-service? That'll be Saturday"
Never fails. Get any service at any terminal, expect to wait around for a few days - at least.
So here I am, again sitting around waiting for a few days for a couple hours of work to be done on my truck.
I added a few things to the list, while I was here.
Front end alignment, because it is pulling slightly to the right on most roads. (New steers, done at Laredo because the outside of the right tire was worn - but they didn't bother to re-align it)
Loose right side flat mirror, which shakes so much I get seasick.
The right rear-half right fender well, which I am currently holding up with a bungie cord.
And, oh yeah, if you wouldn't mind, the CD player is busted... could you please replace it for me? It gets really boring on some of these roads without tunes... (And he actually wrote up the CD player, unlike Laredo which said no way)
I was low on supplies, so I went to the store to restock for my long, unproductive weekend. At least I don't have to rely on the terminal vending machines.![]()
I love being in the shop

No Way Jose.............
That's reeeediculous !!!! -
I've been sitting a couple days myself, that is a high mileage truck you got man. I think swift returns trucks as soon as they hit 500k.
-
And here's the best part of this whole thing...
I had sent a QC message saying not to plan me this afternoon because I was putting the truck in the shop.
So, what do I get just as I drive into the terminal?
A pre-plan going to San Diego!!!!!!
I live in San Diego, and it would have been the perfect trip for some home time. Delivering on Friday, so I could have had a weekend at home...
And, I kid you not, this is the very first time (in 6 months with Swift) I have had a pre-plan to San Diego that was not due to a requested home time.123456 Thanks this. -

Hi Moosetek13. Can you tell me about your first driver-unload? Like how many bathtubs, how heavy, how long did it take you, did anyone assist at all? I know, a lot of questions........I'm a girl and working on my stamina for such demands as the 'driver-unloads'.
Thanks -
This one was easy.
It was billed as a 7000lb load, but if it was over 1000lbs I am a canary.
I just pushed/carried the items to the back of the truck, tipped it over to the receiving person, and went back for the next. I spent about 15 minutes at the first stop and maybe 30 at the final, never breaking a sweat.
The first was 9 items, 5 of which were shower bases that weighed maybe 25lbs. The second was the 'large' load, and a few of the tubs weighed perhaps 120lbs. But I didn't have to lift them, just push/slide them. Nothing to it, and I am not very strong. There were only 12 items at the final stop.
But, like I said, this was an easy one. Nothing like doing a trailer full of tires. -
ok, your a canary.
i added up what you said and it comes out to 1565 Lbs......lol
