Did the ol trailer hunt today. But can't say I didn't expect it with it being a holiday weekend and where I was delivering didn't look like they had a huge pool of trailers when I google mapped it so I figured one would be in the door and about 50/50 shot it was empty.

Got there and I was right. One trailer in the door...with a red light and nobody around. Have to say I expected a long wait but within minutes I had a solution.....only problem....I get there and same thing....called in and asked whoever if it was just ok to go to Carlisle and hunt one down. Was told go ahead and if couldn't find one I was more than likely gonna be given the ok to BT to the next load. Found an empty in Carlisle and got my next one. Yeah I lost some time today but I expected it to be worse and quite frankly for a holiday weekend I'm surprised it went as smooth as it did.

I needed an empty. I'm thinking big picture. I have $1200 in revenue to deliver tomorrow. At that point I need to find something and go.

I waited 3 hrs for an empty. I was pro active I went too 3 places to look for an empty. I ended up right back where I started. Went back over to my last drop and a IC was pulling in with an empty. I told him to drop it right there. You can do a customer search in navigo. It will show customers near by. I don't wait for SNI too tell me where to pu empty.

Thanks for the tip with Navigo. I was actually lucky today that I didn't sit to much...unlucky of course that the first place had the "empty" still in the door...but definitely will be useful in the future...especially on a weekend.

Well I've been with Schneider for two months now running the Choice program. I'm not impressed. Ya it's nice not having a dispatcher, buy the selection of freight isn't as much as I thought and rates are average. I have no desire to run the east, north east. I don't mind the Midwest, but i see very few loads heading back to Arizona or California from the midwest, so I stay in the southwest, basically running Arizona/California/Nevada. It's ok, i make ok money, I'm just impressed. Be nice to use brokers on the side. So I decided to look at Mercer or Great Wide, over there I can use brokers.

Schneider may work for others, and good for them. I'm not going to say the Schneider Choice deal is a bad program, because that's subjective. It's just working for me. I'm looking for more I guess.
