I get a chuckle everytime I hear them yakking it up. On another note, how you like van IC over bulk? Missing the tankers at all?

I like it a lot more. There's a lot less bs involved via loading/unloading which makes it somewhat predictable. On the other hand though you've basically got 2 jobs to balance since you dispatch yourself. The mental stress is 300X what it was in bulk. It's nice though...while bulk was fairly steady for the most part...this side has a lot of ups and downs but it averages out on the plus side, for me anyway. The only thing I miss about bulk is getting paid for empty miles, other than that no...god no.

Dallas OC. Gonna do the Texas triangle of Dallas, Houston and Laredo for the week then take the weekend off.

Came in at about $4500 gross this week. I'll see more than half of that in the net.

Just ran into one of my orientation buddies while in Houston. He seems to be doing well, but he did have a slight hiccup today. Seems he booked a hazmat load out of here that paid fairly well. He gets loaded...calls in to the hazmat hotline and finds out its on Schneider's do not haul list. So not only has he lost the load but he had to sit there and wait for them to take the product off. Wasted his entire day....somehow I don't think he $150 VNU makes up for that.

Anyway he's having a tough time finding anything worthwhile on last minute notice so I suggested maybe bouncing up to Dallas market if all else fails.

Ugh. So I get to the forwarding agent in Laredo and when he tugs the bolt seal it comes apart clean in his hand. So apparently it didn't lock. So that meant waiting over 2 hours before the customer in Mexico got back to them to accept the load of scrap waste.

Caused me to be 30 minutes late to my next pickup where they will work me in "shortly". Off to Marietta from here than will deahead to Wilmer and grab a load to Sealy and take the rest of Saturday and Sunday off.

FatDaddy. Do you live primarily in Swedesboro? Reason I ask is, I ordered a truck from Liberty Kenworth last month. Very happy with them.

Born and raised there for 35 years. Grew up literally 1 mile from that Kenworth. Parents still live in my childhood home and my oldest daughter is there too and I'm back at least once or so a month and will settle back there after my youngest graduates high school in 8 years.

How I ended up in Katy, TX is a whole other boring story

Was sleeping peacefully at the Dallas OC ready to get up at 0300 to head to Sealy then go home when I felt a jolt. Company guy smacked my mirror. Really? This ain't that tight of a yard to be hitting anything.

Anyway no damage done just folded my mirror in but I was tempted to call him in due to lack of an apology for waking me up!!
