    That sucks...
Some of the issue is Schneider but I've found that to mainly be with appointment windows on drop/hook pick up and delivery.
That drop to hook to live load really sucks but I've spoken to some customers and directly asked them "when you run out of trailers do you notify Schneider that incoming trucks will be live loads".. each time the answer I got was NO.
Schneider should however put the shipper on blast to communicate changes ahead of time to prevent this in the future. Being it's Schneider though I doubt that actually happens.

If I was in that situation and the live load took a while I'd just deliver it next day. Not my problem, I didn't trip plan for a live load that could take 2-3-4 etc hours.

If Schneider and customers would communicate changes it would make everybody's life so much more easier and accurate. But nope that makes too much sense in trucking so can't happen lol.

Ironically if they would let me do an 8/2 split it wouldn't even have been a service issue. But I played by their rules and communicated after I got my bills that it would have been to close to try and make it.

They said ok and I took a 10 at the shipper and away I go.

I just did an 8/2 split a couple days ago. Had a preassignment sent to my truck while my dbl was at lunch to pickup a relay and deliver it 150 miles away at 0200 10/08. I couldn't be to the OC to pickup the relay until 1500 10/07. DBL called when he saw the preassignment and thought I couldn't make delivery on time. Told him I could if I split my logs but schneider tends to frown upon it. DBL said he doesn't mind if I split my logs to get it there on time since it's legal to do as long as I'm ok with it. No one else was available to deliver it so I took it, split my logs, and delivered on time.

It pretty much depends on your dbl. I've split my logs quite a few times at SNI and no one has ever brought it up.

I know that shipper. I as there monday on load that was suppose to be ready by 0100. I get there and not only is the load no ready, they load I had according to there system wasn't suppose to be loaded until Thursday. I had 2 other loads booked out of there as well for this week and the dates that were on my load list were all off from the dates they had in there system. That shipper takes up to 4 hours to live load. They manager of the shipping office said he had called schnieder last Friday to let them know the loads weren't ready because they were missing 12 trailers for them to preload on the weekend.

If and when I need it in the future to save service and to keep me on schedule I may hypothetically do a split and then hypothetically claim I forgot it was against policy if questioned.

Better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

I split a few times and never had any issues.. that is until I split my logs to make sure I'd be on time and the live unloaded ended up taking 9 hours. (lumper unload of course)
My DBL put on me blast for it.
It appears to me Schneider doesn't pay much attention to you until something out of the norm happens which brings attention to you/a situation.

What's the difference between a DBL and an ICA?
