Maybe the 2nd QRT. Frieight is very scarce. It's hard trying to book 3 days out. I used to book my loads day by day. Now, I try to book out in advance. I am seeing myself take loads I never would take. Like 40k lbs loads.

This is currently the worst I've seen things since I've been here by far.

Its just depressing watching the rate continue to fall off the regular loads, such as the constant freight that comes out of Laredo. It's fuel surcharge plus up to 30 cents per mile on much of this freight that has gone away.

Don't get me wrong, still profiting, and nowhere close to being nervous there, but I have a plan for a 3 year payoff on this 6 year truck note, and I need better rates to make that happen, LOL

It can get a lot worse. 2008 I was lucky if I got 2000 miles in week. 1800 was pretty regular. 500 mile load with delivery 3 days away was common.

The problems are multifold but most all lead back to government meddling and Keynesian policies. You can't pull forward demand and expect future demand to still be there. Just like Krugmans' broken window; its a fallacy.

A dollar spent today is one less for tomorrow...kind of common sense, no?

I hated that year. I was pulling tankers for a smaller company outfit. Basically, you would get a run, then wait in line til your turn come up for the next load. I managed to earn more than everyone else though, because everyone was sitting in line waiting for our long runs, and I was constantly running short loads down to the Houston area and back (loaded down, empty back in one day). I was managing 25-2600 miles per week doing that, everyone else was starving with an average below 2000 because they only wanted the loner runs.

But, wait......the ATA says they're aren't enough drivers........what a load of horse poop.

I mean, I understand that everybody's got their own deal, and I understand further that the ATA makes it's money by pushing for 18 year old drivers to further depress wages. That said, how can anyone with any kind of integrity whatsoever spout BS about driver shortages when there is none? And furthermore, how can publications like The Trucker report that kind of, not misleading, but patently false information with no kind of independent reporting whatsoever?

We have become a nation of morons. Patiently waiting for someone to tell us what to believe. We suck.
