I was able to make the messed up bumper look almost normal by pulling the bent piece out and sorta scooting it back into its normal place. Still a little bent and is obviously not in perfect shape, but at a casual glance, it looks good.![]()

LOL! That reminds me of when I was little, probably 7 or 8 yrs old. I had a harness on my 2 yr old (hyper) male german shepherd hooked up to pull me in my Radio Flyer wagon, but the dog would just sit down and not go anywhere.
So I went in the house and got a steak out of the fridge, tied it around the end of my mom's broom and got back on the wagon and held the boom over the dog so the steak was about a foot or two in front of him. The idea was the dog would pull towards the steak, and pull me along with him. To turn corners, I'd hold the steak off to the side a little bit.
I ended up in the emergency room with road rash and my mom STILL tells that story to people. The dog was doing about 20 mph or so and the steak fell off the broom handle and the dog tried stopping and doing a U-turn to go back and gobble up the steak and when the wagon flipped over, I went flying.

I hope you learned your lesson. One thing that I agree with the few drivers here is that you ARE NOT driving your truck. That's somebody else's truck therefore any decisions about that truck should be made by them. That's one of the disadvantage of working for somebody else. It's true that in this business you have to be good at problem solving, but when it comes to the truck issues (damage, stuck, breakdown etc..) it's best to contact your company asap. before acting and to get their authorization. It's better to be upfront than trying to hide something because that's what gets you fired. If you admit your mistake and are honest about it, it shouldn't be a problem, which it looks like you learned that.

Your name isn't Rowan Atkinson, AKA Mr Bean is it?

In my first 10 years of trucking, I only drove on pavement around 10% of the time.
Rest of the time I was on dirt or gravel roads.
BTW - Driving in the mud is GREAT preparation for ice/snow if you are not from areas that see a lot of it. -
A tow truck pulled out the tractor and then the trailer. Who'll be paying for that? Please let us know when you find out.
There was some damage to a new truck. Isn't this reportable to your carrier? -
A ny U-turn into potential oncoming traffic at any time is potential for catastrophe.Instant termination at my company if caught making one. There is never a professional driver that makes one.Notice I said professional driver.
