Well, i have officially passed all the school tests and the CDL exam (my school has third party testers). All i have to do is get the rest of my hours and i am good to go. So i started applying. And so far Werner and TransAm have turned me down. This is not a good sign if you ask me. Any thoughts?

You must have some kind of clue, DMV record, criminal record, past employment, etc. Put it on the table and we will give you our completely unqualified opinions!:biggrin_2559:

Well without knowing anything it's really hard to say. But....just keep plugging away and if you know why they turned you down maybe (or maybe not) you can address the issue. Just because Werner turned you down is not really a bad thing.

LOL sorry, should have give more info. Yeh got some issues. Speeding ticket, 79 in a 70, Feb 2008. 1 accident, low speed rear end collision, no ticket issued, Sept 2007. 2 counts worthless checks, 6 years ago, no probation, no jail, just paid restitution and fines, never even went before a judge, Something like 6-7 years ago. And my job history isn't the greatest.

And yes, i'm well informed on my shortcomings, and i freely admit these are all my fault. I'm just hoping to find someone who will hire me out of school, who will hire a team who are both in school.

Oh, i forgot to mention, i live east of I-95 in N.C., can you hear the doors slamming shut?

Yep, you are kinda located in the boondocks. Quite a few tankers moving around that area, but of course they require experience and a clean record. Trust me, if you were living in the Piedmont, your chances would not be a whole lot better at catching some kind of solo gig with a decent company.
As everyone here will tell you, you've got a very slim chance at any of the big training companies. They have too many lined up that are squeaky clean, and where you live takes you out of the hiring area for some of them.
Heck, run an ad in the Wilmington newspaper looking to hook up with an O/O to run team. If one responds, be honest. You also need to be wary because there are alot of small operations looking to cash in on the desperate. This forum is full of many of those horror stories.
Hustle as soon as you are eligible, because for some reason a CDL goes stale pretty fast in todays market.
    Best of luck to ya.

Getting turned down by Werner is not a bad thing. There are better options. Compile a list of companies that you like, and ask the recruiters if they accept truck school graduates.
