    The nice officer was kind enough to point out EXACTLY,in the regs, where it says to put BOL #, etc on the log book page. He also pointed out several other misconceptions that drivers have. Bottom line: do it the way FMCSA says do it.

    Shouldn't be signed until after the day ends. If you happen to be awake or driving at midnight, it would probably be a good idea to go ahead and sign off for the day. Certainly should sign off before going to the next day.
