1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I need a driver asap!! east coast mostly.

The driver has to make money too, after all. It almost seems as if you have unrealistic expectations of pocketing a big chunk of money for every truck that you have a driver on. Accumulating equity in equipment is where the payday is for small fleet owners.

I always found that a really good driver who I paid better than average actually made me more money. Nothing profitable about hiring a cheap truck driver.

"I agree on paying a driver good and the returns in savings might be a lot. Driver making 30% of net is way too much. Driver makes more than truck and owner combined? Let's say almost 50% of load goes to fuel. So really working with only 50% that's left. The driver gets 20% and I'm left with 30% to maintain the truck and all other expenses to run the business. It might work on a large fleet but on a small fleet it's a strain. In it to make money after all. "

Exactly...do you understand gross, net, profit? 30% of the net....means fuel is out already, as well as tolls, ect....what net means is that you have what is left over after expenses. So how do you think this is more than the truck makes or you? That leaves 70% of the net. If you can not make it on 70% of net...than either you are hauling cheap freight or have the wrong contracts. Doe you get an adequate fuel surcharge...charge back alll tolls and accessorials? If not, it is not the driver that is going to break you....but cheap freight and contracts.

They are saying 30% of net after all expenses. Not gross.
