So I eventually will be back OTR soon and of course that means down time. So I want to get a TV. I know my old POS won't work in a couple months. I was at Best Buy looking at TV's the other day and couldn't get any one to help me. I noticed that they all said "built in digital tuner".
Is that for the new format for regular TV? If I get one of the new TV's do I still need to buy one of those converter boxes? I know nothing of this new digital TV thing because I have cable here at home.
I have also heard of people using their laptop as a TV. Is there some sort of USB antennae connection or something? Or is it an online service?
I need a TV for the truck... HELP!

MOST of the TV's made in the last 6-8 years have a digital tuner.
for TV on laptop you need a "TV tuner installed/built in. not sure of the antenna connection method though -

Yes, the built in digital tuner is what you need. Last year my husband almost bought a non-digital one. Luckily, he waited to consult with me first. You can get a really nice one for under $200. He is able to get a lot of station choices on his. And those flat-panel tv's are great spacesavers.

Yes the ones with the built in digital tuners are all you need for the new signal.
It's the old tvs or the ones without a built in digital turner that you need the box
that they sell in the stores.
I picked up a Poloroid (thats not spelled right) Tv at WalMart for around $220,
its flat screen has a great pic and saves space like LM said. -

I was at Best Buy the other day and saw a variety of HD LCD TV's starting at around $239. Online Best Buy has around 20 HDTV's ranging in size from 15" to 22" and with prices ranging $229 to mid-$400's. Most of them had built-in DVD players. I have been considering a wall-mounted 20" HDTV and a good quality surround sound system. My only concern is how well a wall-mounted HDTV will stand up to vibration.

Biscuit,
Not that it would make much of a difference, but have you thought about buying a used Directv or Dish Network system and just buying the access card? The Directv or Dish Network box will work with the older TV's, and they still have the coaxial connection on them. You may have to find some kind of way to "mount" the satellite dish on your truck so you can aim it south when you get ready to watch. Maybe mounting it on a tripod that you can easily set up outside the truck when you are parked at a truck stop or rest area.
