One time I got sick when my gut failed basic functions in the stomach a few years ago leading to acute pain. They drew about 300 dollars worth of blood out of me and sent 20 or so overnight to Dallas Texas one state over. Dallas billed 2000 dollars for mathematics alone related to the samples specifically to see how I am doing on top of the lab work related to same. It would be a week before all the blood work came back.
On top of a cool 8000 dollar ER visit that last 4 hours that night no one had any diagnosis or answers to that problem that night.
This is not about a urine test for drugs but rather a example on how fast and how far blood, urine and other materials will be shipped as necessary to get to the right labs overnight or next day. They cut me loose that night. But it was a month before the doctors and I got whatever the results were along with the billing.
The total bill? 14000.
Hospital tore it up.
I need answers thanks

The “carrier” or the “collector”. I don’t mean to bring semantics into this, but per DOT regulations only only the “collector” sends specimens anywhere.
-
In these situations the carrier themselves is the collector. They collect the urine, check the temps, do the split samples and start the chain of custody form. This is all sent by overnight carrier to the Lab. In some situations the lab is actually in the same city. There are hundreds of these labs across the US.Dumdriver Thanks this.

I wouldn’t be comfortable with my “carrier” being my “collector”. Call me a druggie (have no concern with ANY type of drug test- passed em all) , but it doesn’t sit right with any “carrier” being the “collector”.
I put that in quotes because I know you understand the differences between the two terms (as do I) . It’s an important distinction -
I respect your opinion and it may be shared by a lot of others. However a lot of the carriers today do the pre hire drug testing collections in house.aussiejosh Thanks this.

Yep, and I invite anybody else that is bothered by or find my post annoying to click on that ignore. It is very easy to do. My name is just under my avatar. click on that name and look over to the right side of the menu. You will find the ignore option. PLEASE click on it!

Yeah, I disagree with this. They may have a “clinic” that handles this. But it’s not gonna be the Carrier. It has to be separate

You may disagree all you want. My last 2 orientations one was in house and the other was at a clinic. In the case of the one done in house the people running the orientation did the collecting.
