Also if you ever plan to change jobs make sure you know how they do this testing. Once in the secure area and the chain of custody form is started and you refuse to test it goes down as a refusal and is reported as such to the MRO. About a year ago I was helping a guy that did this at a carrier orientation in Atlanta. Yes he had to go through the SAP/return to duty process.

I’m not sure where we’re talking about refusal! We’re talking about whether the “carrier” (meaning the trucking company ) can be the “collector” of the urine sample. Am I missing something?!

I think we, for the most part agree, but that post confused me. But to be honest, I confuse easily, so it could be me. ;-)

We were not speaking about refusals. However you expressed having problems with carrier personnel acting as collectors. My comment about refusals was based on you possibly changing jobs going to an orientation and being confronted with this. It would shock you just how many people will walk out of an orientation this way. I was speaking to a friend that is in safety and they test just before sending you on to orientation. He told me just in the last 30 days he has had almost 20 people to refuse to test. They just call him names and walk out.

I know both sides of the situation as a trucker who tested negative and later as a medical patient who has to test a certain amount and not trucking.

Well that would explain the 15 thousand posts then.

Me too. I am an epileptic with osteoarthritis. I have not driven a CMV now since Dec of 2012. I have been advised to smoke happy baccky to help with my chronic pain. I have not done so. However I am sensitive to a lot of the problems people are having.

That was for @x1Heavy, I figured he didn't have time to drive with that amount of posts in a couple years.

CBD (Derived from MJ, commercial, or industrial hemp) sounds like the perfect option for your conditions. Low THC to the point THC will not even show up in a UE or HFT.. and available in vape form. The CBD derived from commercial hemp is legal in all 50 states, but more expensive and less effective. Texas has medical marijuana now just for folks with epilepsy that are resistant to standard treatments. CBD is the way to go if you do not want the high and THC. There are some touching videos on youtube regarding CBD and how it cured children who were having dozens of seizures a day. CBD is the best treatment for epilepsy hands down and also reduces pain and inflamation across the board.

You might be surprised to know it was a cop I know that told me to consider smoking. Right now my VA physician has me on keppra for the seizures and I use heating pads for the joint pain.

I don't have a problem with that. We just passed medical pot here. Just one minor detail. The 5 dispensaries will open later this year after each have put up a 500,000 cash bond in addition to a 100,000 licensing fee to the state so far.

I beleive there are 15 doctors writing pot scripts as of 6 months ago at 150 each to anyone willing to travel to them.

Pot licensing here in Arkansas require that all weapons be confisicated and melted. That holder will not be able to have any.

There are other problems but we are working on them one by one. I myself would not be using pot for medicine. Its not my flavor. My vices lean elsewhere.
