i'm on disability for ADHD and i have no work history. i also have a clean class A cdl and physical card that i just got a month ago. i have filled out 20+ applications with the big trucking company's most denied me roehl discriminated against me and swift was the worst of them all. they knew beforehand i am on disability but still sent me to there 3 day orientation. i was in a class with 12 other people which they hired the other 11. on the last day i was all set to take off with my mentor then i get called in to the recruiters office. the recruiter flat out told me that they wont hire me because i'm disabled. it royally pissed me off they knew beforehand and they even asked me to bring proof of my disability. my disability is not physical and doesn't make me a nut job or a depressed mess i'm just hyper i talk allot there are tons of truckers out there with ADHD and there safe on the road. all i want is a chance to prove myself and to work my way off disability. if i wasnt serious about this venture and opportunity i wouldn't have spent allot of my saved up money to go to trucking school and buy all the live in truck supplies i needed. i even pawned allot of my stuff to do so and put myself in debt. all i want is a chance please share this with your recruiters if they are willing to hire me knowing all this please let me know.

If you're not on medication for your cough, cough, so-called "disability", why even bring it up to companies?
I have a buddy that has ADHD (LOOK....A SQUIRRLE!!!) and is on medication that would most likely disqualify him from getting a Medical Certification...which is required for OTR trucking. Is that YOUR case as well? And if so, how did you get a "physical card"?dunchues, Broke Down 69, diesel drinker and 2 others Thank this. -
Just keep the disability to yourself. I don't know if that would work or not.
diesel drinker Thanks this. -
Wow, I did not know you can get disability for ADHD.
I'm predicting a lot of millennial's on disability.ClassB, tinytim, ZhenyaP1991 and 11 others Thank this. -

That's what I thought when I read "disability" as well. My buddy with diagnosed ADHD is of my generation (Generation X), and he nor his doctors, nor the Government, nor anyone else considers it a "Disability". He deals with it on HIS time, and HIS dime...and functions on a high paying Government Electrical Technician full time job, and medication (not Ritalin, but something similar).
Tired of people over-using the 'disability' thing.Broke Down 69 and Bakerman Thank this. -
diesel drinker Thanks this.
