Here it is. In jan of 2002 i got caught at a party with a little pot and some papers. charged with possesion and paraphenalia. I got my cdl again last month thru a school in Illinois and have all the endorsements(d/t,tankers,hazmat).

I cant get a job because of this so I hired an attorney and was able to get the possesion charge dismissed and expunged as of 10/13. He couldnt get the para.charge expunged becaus you are allowed only one apparently.

I have called back every co. that denied my app and they all say NO THANKS.

I have a good driving record and a steady work history. the only thing on my criminal record is the misdemeanor paraphanalia charge from 2002.

who will hire me. I have been denied by....... Werner, us express, roehl, tmc, crete, schneider, crst, swift, cr england........

Trans am accepted my app but i cant seem to get an orientation.
I am still waiting on usa truck
I live in the midwest and would appreciate some input.

    Thanks.

i drove for CRST from 5/2002 -1/2003 then left for a restaurant manager job. so in the same year that indiscretion happend i was driving a cmv. I havent smoked pot in seven years and will pass any drug test.

not to mention that it seems a dui is ok if its five years old. dosent make alot of sense but i know the market is flooded right now.

Since you've been turned down by the folks who hire anything that ain't dead I'm afraid your OTR career is looking pretty chancy. Better start thinking in terms of a local, small (read fly by night) co, or dump, building supply..... something like that... if you want to drive something. You've pretty well screwed yourself on anything else.

Beats me how folks will mess with stuff like drugs and then expect the industry to change every rule to accomodate them. You knew full well you were breaking the law when you lit up. Guess it ain't quite as "cool" now, huh?

Oh, another little item. You think you got it "expunged" right? Guess again. Should you ever go across the border they will pop that little episode up in the shared files of the FBI/RCMP. Ain't no way to get it out of there.

As you can guess I have little or no sympathy for anyone who messes around with drugs.

IMO: I agree with kittyfoot, you knew the outcome if ya got busted and still you did it. I think anyone busted for dope or DUI should never be allowed to hold a CDL again and only have limited driving privilages in a car....so blast away everyone who thinks I am a hard ###, no problem. People who decide to hit a joint, snort a line or drink and then drive should have to face the end result. There are way to many INNOCENT victims of those kinds of idiots.

Yeah, I really hate to pile on but actions have consequences.

Several guys who just completed the Commercial Driving Course with me and with whom I would totally trust my wife, kids, etc., because of stupid stuff they did earlier in life (one of them as far back as 22 years!!!!) no OTR companies will touch them.

And I agree with luv...if you did this while employed and driving a CMV...sorry, dude, you knew the risk involved.

Awww, so now you're hurt because I didn't throw you a pity party? :biggrin_2553:

You provided your own answer, 10 yrs, so my advice stands. Find yourself a local non-otr job driving, stay clean and work your butt off. Get rid of the idea that anybody owes you some special consideration. You screwed up your own life; not LEO nor anybody else.

This is not about thinking I'm better than you. Lord knows I'm not. I've done more than my share of dumb things. It's only by God's Grace that I didn't wind up like some of my young friends.

You say you're straight and clean since. Excellent and congtratulations. Hang in there and you'll get where you want to be eventually.

in your case. big trucking companies is not the answer. a mom and pop operation would be the key, But it still going to be tough.
