I want to make another and final attempt at trucking again. I tried an o/o when I first got my license failed because of my immaturity. I tried Swift and failed because their training program was too stressful for me. I did have a success as a local driving class B but had to abandon that job because I was not getting treated right. The manager and fellow employee trained me well. I do aspergers syndrome and I'm on disability. I'm not tired of it, I just want to explore other options for me. I'm single and have no kids. I'm looking for a small company that will train me right and treat me right. I do not want to go to a company that will take advantage of me. I hear people getting hired all the time with companies with limited experience. I like the idea of being away and learning.

When it gets alittle tough and stressful, don't just up and quit.I don't care where u go every company is like that.So you think the smaller companies are better then the mega ones huh, think again. You need to stop quitting jobd because things don't go your way.It takes months on up to a yr to really know what trucking is like.We all went thru what you did but most didn't quit. What did companies do to make you think you wasn't treated right?

Regardless of where you end up in trucking its not going to be 100% SMOOTH SAILING all the time , and do not go into a prospective employer and talk about the 3 negatives you listed in your post 1) Inmature 2) stressful training 3) not treated right.

Aspbergers is a higher form of autism. The movie "Rainman" with Dustin Hoffman in it was a form of austim. Some can be good in only one area of learning. I read of a kid in the Chicago area who you could call and get schedules from for the railways and bus companys, he had a brilliant mind when it came to keeping track of all that info.

Pressure from fast moving classes may not be the right place to be, and then you have the pressure of delivery schedules, working with dock workers, etc. How would you hold up under these pressures.

Somewhere like Prime uses simulators also that you must pass. They do have a longer training program once you pass the classes and orientation. They do have some loads in FL that p/u and deliver there.

What's the status of your license? CDL-A? Tickets, violations, endorsements, whatever else?
Sounds like you'll be starting fresh, with no real Class A driving experience, correct?
Trying to be an O/O right after getting a CDL is insane. NO-ONE would succeed at that.

What is your disability? Aspergers only, or something else also? (not intended to mean aspergers is a minor issue, I know it isn't)
It's hard to recommend any course of action, or company training, at this point, without knowing more about you, and anything related that may affect your training or driving. Just being honest.

    Edit Add:
Now that I've read your brief blogs, I see that you've had your heart in this many years. I commend you for your patience, tolerance, and dedication.
You show a lot of thought process and patience in this journey to be a driver. Good job thus far & keep your head up.

the problem, is, he has asperbergers. not attitude.

what you all think of as a normal human personality, and what his closest capability is. are miles apart.

the fact that he even has a license is a huge accomplishment alone., let alone a commercial license.
i know a 25 year old.with aspergers. that doesn't even have that. and also struggles to maintain employment.

do i think he should be behind a wheel. maybe, maybe not. but i'm not a doctor.

like navigatorwife said. he has potential. for some things. as for the rest. none of us will never know. becuase we're not in his shoes.

all we can do. is give him kudos for at least trying to do something with his life.

Well explained, snowwy, and I agree, KH's accomplishments have been great.
I had been away reading his blogs, which gave me more insight.
I then added my edit, before seeing your post. Thanks.

    Guys,

I should have more precise: I was @ Millington for Swift because I could not pass their road test in Ocala. Any three week course like that is like Millington is stressful. I wont get into it as it was over three years ago/ In regards to my original CDL class, some instructors were patient but I did ok. All my previous employment is either retail customer service or delivery driver. I've had aspergers since 2000. If you met me, you wouldn't know it unless I told you. I live on my own and own my own car.

    KW,

I have a Class A CDL in my current state of FL. My last point will fall off in five days. I plan on dropping my hazmat endorsement. In the experience I have, ive had to use it twice. I'm not trying to be an o/o. I just want to get to a point where I can get on with a company like Heartland or even Averitt.

    Snowwy,

One of my doctors rec I get back into trucking.

You're in Florida, which really limits your opportunities. I've heard that Armellini is a good company to talk to if you live in Florida. Good luck with your search.
