do you have your permit yet? how old are you? how do you know how to drive? what did you learn on? (size trailer/what transmission) these things might help in your search....

    good luck

tow truck is much different from a tractor... have you driven a tractor before?

Probably be a good idea to get your permit first and all your endorsements, before you ask someone to let you behind a wheel, did you need your "B" to drive the tow truck or just your regular "C"?

Look on this forum "Seeking Employment" and "Trucking Jobs" threads. Did you get your CDL on your own or through a CDL school?

I hate to bust your bubble but even if you spend the next 5 years driving with someone sitting in the passenger seat, you will still be considered a new driver at any company. I got my CDL on my own last July. No school. I worked for a trucking company in the shop and they let me use a truck and trailer to take the test. Here is the problem. Everywhere I applied asked what school I went to. I said "none". When I told them I got my CDL on my own they said they couldn't hire me because I had no experience and did not go to school (which I was told by many carriers that it equates to 3 months experience). I had to drive with a trainer from July until January even though I passed the road test with our safety director in August, insurance company said no (Company has a 1 yr min experience policy). At the end of January they decided to let me go on my own. I have been on my own since January 28th. I recently applied to a company and will be going to that company in May. Even though I have been driving since July and have been on my own since January (3 months and some change by the time I swap jobs) they are still classifying me as a "new driver" or "recent grad". So I am going to have to do a minimum of 21 days with a trainer even though I can drive and have a clean MVR with no wrecks/tickets/etc.

I tell you this because I do not want you to be surprised like I was when I did all of this training for 7 months with no pay and have been driving a few solo months and have close to a year under my belt and still have to go back out with a trainer.
