Not sure about DOT rule about 1 passenger only, but I know many companies have such a policy. I assume she meant they would alternate because more than 2 is too many IMHO.

Also, many facilities have restrictive passenger policies inside the facility and often make non CDL holders wait outside.

I would like to see this regulation as well. I realize most companies limit you to one passenger and believe this makes sense. It makes sense from a liability standpoint and for limiting the amount of distraction.

Since I have never seen any regulations limiting the number of occupants in a CMV, I believe that there is no limit. I however believe that unless an approved restraint device protects each occupant that you could find yourself with a violation in case of a DOT inspection.

I have spent a little time thinking about this and if I were to do this I would want someone to be in bunk restraints, unless I had a third seat with approved restraints, during any LEO encounters.

I have family members constantly bugging me to take them along,I will not, unless it is a very short run, which in my world,is rare..

However, that man said it is a DOT rule,(1 passenger in CMV) and I,too, would like to see the proof,as this is how B.S. gets started, and the older I get,the less tolerance I have for it..

Unless,of course,it is in FUN...in this case,I do not believe it was.

I think you should be a little real. Companies that take on trainees and put them out with a trainer usually require them to go OTR for three to six months after training. This is to prove to them you are capable of handling various types of loads and seeing how efficent you are. However, you could ask to be put on the waiting list while starting off OTR. It can take a week to six months. It all depends on that companies needs.

That being said, put together a list of questions and expectations. If your husband and daughter can take care of things for a year while you do OTR, you will be better off.

Thanks everyone for your honest replies. Like i said these were my 'perfect world' wants. Ive been a nurse for years and back when i startedi was fed alot of bs. I have always wanted to drive trucks, cross country. I believe i am capable. I have taken some advicefrom the forums and looked at trucks passing through my area and have gone to their websites checking out what theyhave to offer. I have seen many local jobs hiring after 3 or so months experience. Butwhatever, ihavefound that i need to first getinto some kindof training.
I think my real question is for peoplewho live in my area or havebeen through tdi school.
I am wanting to do this, im not scared. I know there are many hardships that go along with trucking. I dont think i am disillusioned about it. Maybe i am but liveand learn.
And i belonged to the "oscarfish forum" for a year before buying my oscar lol, maybe im too anal aboutthings lol
Anyway, thanks to you all. And im writing from a mobile and my spacebargetsstuck sometime....sorry
