I need to fax from truck,how?

Could you use a scanner and E-mail instead? Or does it have to be a fax?

 

get an all in one scanner/printer, an air card and an account with online fax service like efax.com. you can send and receive faxes on your email. I can even do it from my cell phone.

 

I use, gotfreefax.com. As stated above, you need to scan the document into your computer. If this is not an option, look for an office max, UPS store, kinkos etc... and they will do it for you. if it is not a lot of stuff, maybe a store, or location you are delivering to or the office at a truck stop might send one for you.

 

Yeah, like LB said. You could even get one of the $20 prepaid Walmart phones as a dedicated fax line.

 

I use faxzero.com. It's free. A scanner is a good way to go, but since I don't need to fax all that often I just use a digital camera and simply snap a picture of the document and convert it to a pdf file (with windows you can do that with "cutePDF",) after I edit out the imperfections. If I want to receive a fax, I'll have my dispatcher email me the page and I'll use faxzero to fax it into the truckstop's fuel desk while I'm out in the parking lot. That saves me the cost of a printer, and saves me standing around waiting for it to arrive.

 

Windows XP has a built in Windows Fax software you can use called Microsoft Fax.

 

I have a computer at home with a built in modem. I run the phone line into the computer via the input jack and my phone is plugged into the output jack. This allows me easy dialup internet access.

On my computer, I have installed a software package called "Communicate". It is an old version but it can answer incoming calls and respond according. The software allows my computer to be a phone answering machine and a fax machine that allows me to send or receive faxes. I love this software.

To do it remotely from a truck, you need a laptop, the software installed on your computer and a modem or air card so that you can make a telephone call.

I've used gotfreefax in the past but you can't receive faxes. Something he will need to do if he has his own authority.

BTW, in a pinch I have an app on my phone that will let me take a pic (i.e. scan) of a document and send it out as a pdf file. Works for receipts and stuff too. I also keep insurance documents, etc saved in my email so I can email it or send to a fax machine through efax directly from my phone.
