Hi all, I am starting my first company. I need to here from some experianced drivers about how I can send and receive faxs from my truck. What is used? What is a good set-up. Going into a truck stop and doing it in there is out, not going that way. So can anybody help me on what I can buy to send and recieve faxs. Thanks.

Could you use a scanner and E-mail instead? Or does it have to be a fax?

I use, gotfreefax.com. As stated above, you need to scan the document into your computer. If this is not an option, look for an office max, UPS store, kinkos etc... and they will do it for you. if it is not a lot of stuff, maybe a store, or location you are delivering to or the office at a truck stop might send one for you. -
Yeah, like LB said. You could even get one of the $20 prepaid Walmart phones as a dedicated fax line.

Windows XP has a built in Windows Fax software you can use called Microsoft Fax.

I have a computer at home with a built in modem. I run the phone line into the computer via the input jack and my phone is plugged into the output jack. This allows me easy dialup internet access.
.
On my computer, I have installed a software package called "Communicate". It is an old version but it can answer incoming calls and respond according. The software allows my computer to be a phone answering machine and a fax machine that allows me to send or receive faxes. I love this software.
.
To do it remotely from a truck, you need a laptop, the software installed on your computer and a modem or air card so that you can make a telephone call.
.
The newest version of this computer software is $29.99. Probably has a shipping charge that will add to the price. Google "Communicate standard v10". Web address is "Http://01com.com/products_v10_main.php" -
BTW, in a pinch I have an app on my phone that will let me take a pic (i.e. scan) of a document and send it out as a pdf file. Works for receipts and stuff too. I also keep insurance documents, etc saved in my email so I can email it or send to a fax machine through efax directly from my phone. -
