I remember when first joining this site a pair of new female team drivers posted something about how they were trying to get dot to put their truck out of service because the jake brake was not working and they were afraid of going downhill.

I haven't seen or heard of Ohio DOT doing inspections in truck stops, just the rest areas or roadside and of course weigh stations.

The state of Ohio actively uses three divisions of law enforcement for inspections: Highway Patrol(state police), Motorcoach Enforcement, and PUCO(public utilities police).

I know! Im always on the look out for the Tahoes they use mostly but last winter I started seeing those white Honda mini-vans. From a distance, they look like a common four wheeler doing an illegal u-turn in the median until it's too late..:biggrin_1square3:

The problem with this logic Even if your company has impeccable maintenance and you do incredible in pre-trip and post trip the old saying if they want to find something, they’ll find something is completely an absolutely true. So if you’re trying to provoke inspections, less is more. If you run into an inspector, who had a fight with his wife that morning, he’s gonna find stuff.

Here is the thing, I pay for proper inspections to find things that I need to correct and glad to see defects on dot inspections.

    why would I?

because the enforcement officers are there to find something wrong as you pointed out. He has control over everything and if as you said has a bad day, he will take it out on you.

when I do corrective repairs from my paid dot inspection, I bypass the bs from the enforcement officer, saving me time, money and being dinged by the dot.

what the OP is missing other than his boss is really a cheap *********, is the fact that thing go on his record.
