I recently bought an 09 kw t2000 with a c13 that im using to haul frac sand. to turn off the auto idle shutoff the dealer HAS to keep my truck for three weeks. they said they have to send off to cat for permission and get new tags for the engine and so on so forth. is this the only way I can legally have it removed? and my mechanic thinks that here is also something else in the parameters preventing the rpms from goin over a certain point, in 7 gear and on up to 10th it feels like its cuts out. he said it isn't the fuel pump or anything else mechanical it must be in the parameters.. does that sound right to any of you? thanks for the advise.
i need to turn off the auto idle shutoff 09 kw t2000 sand hauler

fot the fuel cut out in 7-10 in mot sure, but 3 weeks to rutn off the auto-idle dont sound rght, your just turning off feature in the ECM. you shouldne need new lables or permission from CAT for tht. now if your Up-rating maybe, i know alot depends on were you live
invictus2014 Thanks this. -
I live in texas.

one hour job at any cat dealer.all they have todo is plug in to your ecm and reprogram the paramaters set by the previous owner

Sounds like BS. Was this a CAT dealer? Which one? Like stated above they should have you in and out in a couple of hours.

all the things that are set in the ecm. are company specs. from what ever company once owned your truck.
they MAY have a password though. but that shouldn't be no biggie. i did a truck i WAS buying couple years back at cummins. first in the door. paid $150 to have password wiped and ecm reflashed to NO governors. took a whopping 30 minutes from filling out repair order to paying the bill and driving away.
it was originally a swift truck. had it done in dallas before delivering my load. which was couple blocks away.invictus2014 Thanks this. -
I called the cat house/dealer in Odessa. they would change certain parameters same day but said as far as changing the auto idle it would have to be left with them for 3 weeks. and its absolutely bs. who as an o/o can afford to leave their truck at the #### dealer for three weeks.... its an 09, he said that was a factory set thing that came with the regen... is that true? and what about just completely bypassing the emissions bs.. I don't need it in texas right? I will never drive this particular truck to cali so is it possible? or legal... ? thnks for the help

If it was a CA clean idle original I think they do have to change the engine plates. Traded in 2 2009 KW's and the new owner of one of them is having a problem getting the idle shutdown taken out.
-
maybe, just take it in to havce them order what ever needs to be ordered. then take it in once they have parts in hand and are ready. so your not parked for 3 weeks.
-
Well even if it's a Cali compliant truck it shouldn't shut down, should just go into clean idle mode. IMO
