I know there are a lot of threads out there about all these different schools. I have been reading these forums and it makes your mind hurt to read all the infighting and bashing of people, company's, schools, and everything in between. Here is my question in regards to this one situation.
I am waiting on the final word from Maverick that is supposed to come tomorrow by 10am on when I go to there school. The last thing i heard on Friday afternoon I would be there but this weekend and go thru orientation then start the school after that. The school that they send you to is Arkansas Commercial Driver Training Institute. I was wondering if anyone knew about this school. I have Googled it and searched this forum but I have not found a lot about it. I may have missed something so if i did please show me my error. I want to know the following things as soon as I can so I can know what to say to the recruiter in the morning.
1. Is it a good school?
2. If I leave maverick in the future will people recognize this as a legitimate school (I understanding that your driving record is most important)?
3. Has anyone been thru this training?
4. I read all about the Maverick vs maverick Specialized thread. Has this issue been resolved and if so is Maverick still a good company to start with?
Thank you folks for all your help in the past few weeks as I am trying to do this thing right the first time!

I am there right now. Read my thread" have to start somewhere "it tells everything I have been through so far.The maverick guys there are four of them have a company trailer up there and they ride around in a big red van. Good luck in your decision.
-
You have to pay for a lot of your stuff but do the Maverick guys? Also what if you already have a DOT physical and a CDL permit do you have to do all that there again?
-
No the maverick guys didn't pay for anything that I know of. I will ask about the out of state cdl permit dot questions and let you know. I don't want to give you bad info just give me a few days.Later
-
If you have a cdl permit from another state it wont do you any good here. You will get an arkansas cdl so they will only honor their permits.Bring all your paperwork for your dot physical they will accept that hope that helps Later

Hay Man! Im realy looking at Maverick, I like what I see, Im going to give them a call today and see whats up. What Im realy worried about is drive time and PAY. If they dont keep me driving whats the point of good pay right.Well ...If its possabe to get some info from other drivers for me that would be great man

Maverick no longer does paid CDL training for those not having a Class A CDL. You must have a Class A CDL prior to joining onto Maverick. The recruiter said they did away with this because too many people were getting their CDLs and then jetting from the company. It was costing them too much money. I'm not sure if I would sponsor someone like that if I had a trucking company. I might extend a "pre-hire" that was conditional upon them getting a Class A CDL. But Maverick doesn't do pre-hires.
I'll start a thread on Maverick. -
It will cover what I learn from benefits and facility layout to everything about what you can expect from the instructors at orientation and driver training. I'll try to find out what I can about specialized glass division.
