Yes. Unfortunately there are still idiots with linear amps running around that you can hear on EVERY channel.

    ####, I hate that!!

It is a small comfort to know that they will eventually get what is coming to them, what with the damage that RF power can do to your body over time.

Prior to the advent of the cell phone, I used the CB in my personal vehicle to communicate with my spouse while out around town (i.e., with a base station in the house).

I still have one, but now I turn on the CB when traffic flow makes me think I need to know more than what I can see on the road ahead of me, or, to occasionally chat with motorcyclists whose bikes are equipped with CB's.

Other than that, the CB is just another useless noise in the background.

    IMHO

then why have it at all ?????
dont turn it on when you are stopped in traffic already, then hollar out, "whats going on driver." that to me is dumb. i never turn mine off while i am awake. for the time i am sleep, and on hometime is the only time its off.

Good copy,Wallyworld, I listen don't talk on it alot. Its kept me alive and in one piece out here what already seems like a lifetime. when he is stopped in traffic hes safest, don't understand the logic there,'But who am I',just trying to stay alive and not hurt anyone. Hey there's a moose in the road right ahead of you, around mm78 around the bend ther's a ladder in your lane, move over. I can't write all this again, please read my post earlier tonite.

I always leave my CB on (at least, while I'm awake), I may not talk on it much, but it helps a ton. I just tune out all the death threats, racists remarks, sexist remarks, etc...

In the old days of trucking the CB radio was a life line for most of us.
Now it is only useful if your looking for a way to be depressed about the industry and those who abuse the radio. THANK GOD FOR ON/OFF SWITCHES.:biggrin_25513:
