I passed 1,600,000 miles today, Volvo 780/2008/D13

    No inframe yet, i use Rotela T6 5w40 synthetic only, does't burn oil yet,; original Eaton 13 manual, still running 8mpg+. I replaced camshaft, injectors twice, injector cups twice, 1 turbo, 1 DPF filter , 3 EGRs and a Costco size bag of sensors. :)

    I've got 1,068,000 on my 2006 d12
    1 turbo, 1 egr cooler, 4 egr valves.... uses .5-.75 gl of oil every 25,000 miles

    I have a 1.2 million miles on a 2005 D 12 original injectors original turbo 4 EGR valves but that has been recently fixed to never happen again averaging only 7 miles per gallon it uses about a gallon of oil after 15000 milesI also use Rotella t6 and a OPS bypass oil filter

    Aprox 30-35,000 miles , and the filters only around 18-20k, more often during winter around 25k because I'm in Canada and the cold starts are not good for oil and filters. I get oil by gallon only from Wall Mart , Loves TS, Meijer , aprox 20$/gal and take to my trusty shop. I got isues with the bulk 'synthetic" from lube shops .
    But regular oils are ok also. I know another team here using regular Delvac only, with 1.7 mil on original D12 motor, and a friend of mine reached 2 mil on Original D12 without using synthetic.
    I use synthetic because now is affordable , (D13 needs 9 gallons including filters ,180-200$ and any TA/Petro does the oil change for 120$ with their filters ), offers better film, protecion in any of motor or moving gear , works better in cold weather.

    @Johny41 OK now I've got 10 gal of T6 riding around with me and I have a few questions. A service guy at a Volvo place once mentioned a "conversion" that was necessary to go synthetic. Are the filters the same, or different? Any other "conversion" necessary? Filter recommendations?

    I just had the dino oil changed at 20000, and stuck with it only because I couldn't find T6 at the local Walmart. My new oil was black as coal when I checked it after 60 miles.

    Any secret to getting all the old oil out when changing over to synth other than an overnight drain which isn't likely?

    They are compatible with each other..... Just change it to synthetic, nothing else needed.
    However, the synthetic will start cleaning all the varnish and sludge left by dino oil, so change your filters early the first few times. Like every 10k miles during first oil change

    Will do thanks. You guys don't have a particular filter preference? Mine is a 16 as well, with 2.85 rear.
