As a "training" company they have done as expected. I run 2800-3200 miles/week every week that I am out. If that should change after my year is in then I would as well look for greener pastures if I am still driving a truck. For those folks leaving after less than 6 months like alot of folks that have posted in threads regarding Roehl, Schneider, Swift or what ever company it probably has alot less to do with the particular company but a whole lot more to do with the difficulty of the job. This #### ain't easy and most people if the truth be told are not cut out to drive a truck for a living.

oldguynewjob, Hi I run7/4 7/3 and can relate to the very weak miles, lucky to get 1800 to 2400 in 7 days, no raise's or bonus's do to the fact that I cant reach the minimum miles , due to Roehl's weak freight ! I'm staying because I like the home time , but really starting to look around to see if any one else has decent home time and good miles ! Like you I'm getting tired of the 300 to 400 dollar pay checks !

I drove for Roehl for 9 monthgs.wasreleased for failingclose quarters course.Fisrt,i never had a highway accident,or drugs, achol or reckless driving citations. Was headed fromNC to Fort Collins ,CO by way of Chicago.t Gary they said u are taking close quarters course. No test word was said or what would happen if i failed. It was easy and told company i test in front of Rick Roehl .I just got to close to trailer next to me.As for mainte. it was a problem along.had sticky brake pedal and clutch sw.

Good part was their training,Log Book ,and computer codes.Easy and simple(log & computer).

Well I've stated my opinion of Roehl and was told I was just sour grapes. I just said wait and see. I also had a turbo problem when I was on a run to Tn. Was told the same thing by maintenance. I said there was a T/A right there and I was quickly told no that I would have to go to Gary for repairs. I had to deliver my load get reloaded 124 miles further out then back to Gary and they still didn't fix it. Roehl isn't as good as they may want you to believe. Well maybe for newbies but as soon as you hit the 2 year mark....beware you will be the next one posting you left the power of red (your bank balance).

Your right companies are not your "friend" but Roehl wants you to think they are until.......
And I would still like to see proof of the one who gets consistantly 2800-3200 miles a week. Unless he is in honors program which works them like mules because they are salary and not paid by miles I find it a little hard to believe. As a team we would only get around 3500 a week and that was a good week. By this Monday with Schneider, when we empty out at 1900 hours we will have 3285 miles and we still have until Saturday night by midnight. Plus we don't have to wait to trans-flo our paperwork in to get paid only expenses are held up until they are sent in.

They did away with salary on the honors program, all they do now is put the emblem on the side of the truck, which shows you were in the service.

And you know why, of course. They don't have enough freight to run those guys into the ground anymore. When they cut corners on truck and trailer maintenance, shouldn't they be able to afford to win lots of cheap freight? I don't get it.

I did not ask why when I made the decision to go with Roehl, so far they have been really respectfull to me in the process of deciding to attend their orientation and drive for them, I have been wanting to drive for a long time and they are without a doubt better than the other alternative starter companies. I would like to think that it will be a decent company to stay on with but if the negative stuff on here that I hear about becomes the truth than I would look somewhere else, but for someone looking to get a start in trucking, I still believe I made a good decision.

Roehl is first and foremost a training company. If you are part of that, a trainer, then you have it made, otherwise look out. I have talked to so many drivers that complain about low miles, and not able to get home... Trucking companies are all the same, you just have to find one that you can live with. That is a trick sometimes, but it is the truth. You might work for the worst company in the world, but live next door to their major source of loads, and therefore get your tail run off. As long as the paycheck does not bounce, you can get home most of the time when you want, and you don't sit broke down along the road once a week... You get the idea, Roehl is a great place to get a year or two of experience, and if you live on one of the frieght lanes maybe more, but if you do not want to train, or live in Wisconsin forget it.
