Had this problem a couple times too. Mainly before I got assigned an actual fleet manager. Now that I moved over to vans I preplanned before I unload in most cases. Tho there was that week in Alabama... Got a two stop 1200+ mile run and it picked up on Tuesday. Problem was I unloaded on Sunday and never got word till Monday... didn't like that....![]()
I Quit (if Roehl had an exit interview it might have gone like this)

Ok maybe I am just one of those lucky people or I am such a nuisance That I dont let them tell me "I cant talk to my fm", how are you supposed to build a relationship with anyone on the qualcomm... I do get that from my FM but I dont hesitate to call and bug him if theres a general confusion (happens alot) or I am waiting past an hr for a load.... they are after all dispatchers with a 20 min memory not mind readers. so I make sure to remind him of who, what where and when. As far as who at Roehl I'm not sure, I just start crawling up the ladder and making noise. I have requested meetings with my FM and his boss before to work things out. All FM's have people looking over their shoulders and so on up the ladder, or if thats not working try safetys ladder to ring their bell. I can't remember getting any yearly reviews yet but they dont hesitate to call you in for something they think you did wrong--go figure. when i was on the dedicated I would ask for an informal one just to make sure I was doing ok. I have driving for many small companies and never had a review. I understand being as big as Roehl is their is going to be some people who dont work out. I wish you the best . -
childerscarl1 and spinpsychle Thank this.

Hometime and teams gets priority in miles...
Cheryl said:
I hear/read alot of people that say that, but couldn't tell you if it's true.
Semi-true. Find out what the "launch days" are for that yard and try to plan ur home day for a couple days after that, and if ur launch day coming back out of the house falls on a 7/4/7/3 etc launch day...be available earlier than them...otherwise, yes they do get picked first. Roehl depends on returning those trucks so that another driver can launch. If you leave on a different day you are more likely to get a long load (as they can't send them guys say 500 miles when they have to be back in 2 days) As for the teams, they are expecting those trucks to bank on running around the clock...so having a team sit isn't an option (if they can help it).
Cheryl said"Keep in mind, they don't plan you, the load planners do and yes there are times that they can screw it up. We are lucky to have had fleet managers that will go to bat for us when the planners seem to be smoking crack and most of the time we can get it fixed. Sometimes you just have to suck it up because that is the only freight they have in that area."
So true Cheryl. Also, there are all kinds of truckers...some are hard workers, some are constant complainers....same goes for dispatchers! There were a couple colleagues I couldn't figure out how the hell they kept their job! That being said...everyone has bad days... -
We were a team and I can tell you we didn't get priority miles.

As per Jeepcreeps post Roehl does have an exit interview, its done over the phone, by a third party company . I just had mine today, seems fitting to do the interview with a third party as they rarely would talk directly to me when I was an employee. And waiting eight weeks probably is an indication of its importance to Roehl. Still it gave me a chance to tell someone with the company why I left. Hope all is well with those who remain and have a safe and happy holiday everyone.
spinpsychle Thanks this. -
Reading this makes me question if I am making a mistake??? I leave for Roehl next Sunday!!!! It is my first job since getting my Class A If I bring home a 300-400$ check I lose my home!!!!!! Is this the norm???

You should do better than that. You can check my blog with attached spreadsheet to get an idea what to expect.
