I dont lie man, I ran the miles ive said, never complained and just did my job and thats what i averaged no joke. But honestly everyone gets a bad week its part of trucking. still didnt see under 430 a week when i worked for them. Maybe I just got lucky? who knows. I no longer work for roehl, im a L/O with a local company now.

I agree. I worked at Roehl for twelve years. I did flat, curtain, and van. I used to get some pretty good numbers when trainers were allowed to push. If you are national you are going to get about 10k miles a month. If you have a couple of good weeks they start spreading the miles to other drivers. He only worked there for eight months so who knows?

If I stay out 3 weeks I can usually get a good week on the second week. The 1st and 3rd are usually 400 or under. Not always but quite often. I could get a lot more if they quit giving me an extra day on a lot of loads. But hey I'm rolling.

I'm finding it has a lot to do with location. If I get a shorter run to start like to MN or WI my next load is usually a good long run. If it has a reasonably tight schedule then my daily miles average is good. The problem is on the weekends for me. If I pick up a load on Friday that doesn't deliver till Monday it needs to be at least a thousand mile run or I lose money.

What are the 'freight lanes'? Why should someone forget it if they don't live in Wisconsin?

    Thanks.

All companies have certain lanes "areas" that they run most of the time. If you live along these areas you can do well, it you live off the beaten path, then maybe not. If you look at where our terminials and drop yards are at and you will get the idea. Roehl is a good company, but it is geared to the people that are just starting out. There are alot of rules, that are designed to make it easy for someone with limited experience. That is why it is a good place to start. Where you live can make or break you, so do your homework.
