Please, anyboby, I am seeking some info as to who, what, where, and how, companies that still do training for new and inexperienced truck drivers. I do not have my CDL permit but seriously want to drive a truck for a living.
I really want to be a trucker.

I can understand that. I'm currently a student working on my CDL. I graduate in 8 days. There are companies that have their own schools, but be careful and DO YOUR RESEARCH! These school only lasts 3 weeks and you are required to fulfill a 1 year contract. I'm getting my CDL through Greenville Tech College in Greenville, SC. It's a 9 week program. My advice to you would be to attend a technical college in your area and achieve your dream that way. Good luck to you. We had career day. Only 3 companies came. They were Crete, McElroy, and Colonial.

I just graduated from truck driving school here in Northwestern Ohio. They used to have career day when 6-8 trucking companies would come in and talk to the graduating class. Only one came in. Werner Trucking. There were 15 students in our class and I don't think one of us got a job before or after graduation. Yes, we all got pre hires, but that was it.
Luckily for me I just took the class for a refresher. I gave up my CDL years ago when the State of Ohio made you be tested. I could have been grandfathered in, but was too lazy!
I'm a construction business owner and my business is in the crapper too, but at least I'm keeping my head above water for now. -
Swift is still training people for a cdl..I know of lot of companies cut out CDl training. You might wanna look at Schools that train..Check your state employment office sometimes they can help with the cost especially if your unemployed. Hey check out http://www.jobcorps.gov/AboutJobCorps.aspx Your 24, man they have some nice training programs...I kinda wished I could get into some of their programs but to old..
