I am from Pennsylvania and recently obtain my CDL A and I am looking to find a good Trucking Company to begin my career with as a Solo Company Driver (Not looking to Team or Lease) home time is not an issue I am married and don't have any kids. I am looking for Temperature Control and or Van companies, my Company choices for Temp., (Central Refrigerated, Gordon Trucking, Maverick, and Prime) and for Van, (Baylor, Gordon Trucking, Roehl, and Schneider). I am open for any comments, information, and opinions on my Company choices above from Drivers and Students. I started out by tring to find CDL Class A and B jobs at a lot of Local Companies in my area and around Pennsylvania and was told I need anywhere in ranges from 6 months up to 3 years experience and some told me they take beginners but they don't need any drivers at this time and they will keep my resume file and few companies told me they don't have finishing programs for beginners. They told us in class the first day that local companies will be hard to get jobs and a lot don't want to hire beginners, but thought I would give it a shot anyway. I am now looking to find a large company to begin my career with.

Whatever you do don't wait too long to make a decision. Most companies are going to want you to come to orientation within a couple weeks of finishing school otherwise they will require you take a refresher course. Which can be very costly! Also its to your benefit because once you do go to orientation you will have to take a driving test and it will only behoove you to be fresh in your mind. I personally recommend Central only because out of your list that is the only company I have driven for and had a good experience. Central is large enough to keep you busy yet small enough to still treat you like a human being! They also will go out of their way to help you succeed and deal with any problems you have.

    Good luck man...
