I always tell my friend I dont care if they want to load horse or goat poo on my trailer as long as I can secure it and pays what I want .

I say yes to cheap rates... Someone else can have em, yes. I dont want em.

If the cheap value freight pays more than more power to you!

So what you're saying is: sometimes, hauling nothing can actually earn more profit?

    Brilliant!

A trucker once asked, if the temperature outside is 10 degrees. The wind is blowing 20 mph, what would the wind chill factor be on the radiator as the cold air passes through?

Some of you probably wondered why I originally posted this. A few days ago in another thread about downsizing or ending fleets, someone found it necessary to post "don't haul cheap freight" (not just once, but twice) and added nothing relevant to the topic of the thread. So I thought maybe if I titled my post, I Say Yes to Cheap Freight, he might come over to this thread to discuss it instead of highjacking the other thread. But he didn't post anything over here. Maybe because here it would have been on topic?

For the benefit of anyone who might have read this thread and is unsure as to what I posted and others caught on to was the fact that cheap freight is less risk to haul because there is less cost to cover in possible damage. And so the "don't haul cheap freight" mantra is ______ I'll just say nonsensical. Why not say what is meant? What is meant is say no to cheap (or low) rates. Of course that's still problematic for many reasons. But at least it would more accurately communicate the message.
So, you're deciding between two loads and all the variables are similar (miles, weight, time, rate, and so on) and one load is high value freight and one load is low value freight, what's the best load to take? Answer: the low value (cheap) freight. Because if anything does go wrong you have less money on the line. (Insurance doesn't always cover a loss.)

I have to admit that I never thought about it this way. Just always saw if for what it was intended and was focused on how it created the wrong thinking for O/O's. I liken it to the whole "Stranger Danger" for kids.
