I Sent Flowers to The Waitress

I was in line at the IGA and read that George was getting a divorce and she wanted half his money.

 

Marriage is not a good deal for the guy.

 

She seemed so nice and intelligent that I thought it would work out for them.

That was kind of you, not desperate.
A few years ago I stopped in a small town for a bite of lunch.
I go there 2 or 3 times a year, decent little place beside the hwy. Well this day the waitress who always seemed upbeat and happy looked very upset, and trying to force a smile. I asked if she was okay, and the tears started. Her husband and son had been in accident a few weeks before and passed away. Next stop was a flower shop, sent her a bouquet of daisies ,and a card saying she would be in my prayers to find some peace and healing.

She figured it out though, and some 4 or 5 months later when I stopped by for a meal, i was greeted with a huge hug, and a thank you for the kindness to send her flowers. People enjoy little random acts of kindness.

He actually worked with her. She was a successful LP at his first company and showed him how to slide tandems. Their interaction, albeit brief, always makes him smile and remember warmer days.
