Not picking on you. But you're aware there are a lot of complete idiots in this world, aren't you?

I know people locally, who have retired from a local company that has NEVER paid more than minimum wage. While we have 3 other companies within a couple of blocks, that pay 2 and 3 times minimum wage. And has much better benefits.

    ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Well I'm happy to say I'm one of those "Did listen" instead of "Shoulda listened". My spouse & I would like to team drive and for economy right now, are looking for the best trucking company, nearest our home (Austin, TX), that will offer us fair pay & cover the cost of the CDL training. It'll be shooting fish in a barrel for him since he drove trucks & buses all over the tiny, windy roads of France & other European countries for years, & maybe having him as my co-driver will benefit me, since I'll be new at this. If anyone has suggestions on the *best* one in San Antonio, Houston, or Dallas, please let us know.
    PS
I have one arrest for DUI that was dismissed in early 2009-verifiable. That's it on my record, nothing on his. It's got to be someone who can work with that.

If the DUI is on your record, best thing I can suggest, go onto companies web sights and check to see how long of a period they require for DUI, but you can still call and talk with them, explain to them that its was dismissed in early 09', couldn't hurt, but being a rook, and you hubby, Does he have a CDL? you mentioned he drove in Europe, Don't know their license requirements over there, don't know any company that will train and cover cost, with best pay, you'll find a company that will train, and carry the loan for the training, giving you some time before having to make payments, But more than likely, if you go to a company that trains, you will both end up with separate trainers on the road, so just plan on being apart for this time, being a female, Ask for a female trainer

5 years later and they are just as crappy as they were when you went. My husband has been with them for almost a year now. He leased a truck thinking it was gonna be "better" for us in the end. So far the only "good" thing is that he just *happened* to come home for my birthday, on one of his 17, yes 17, days that he's collectively gotten to come home since he left in Feb.(it's now Oct. for ppl that don't know the date) & I was hit by a car the next day. His DM shockingly said "take all the time you need", but we can't do that cause he generally makes -$100 or more a week even with 9,000 miles. WTH!? As a taxi driver myself, you were right to go back to that. Much better pay and much more entertaining. He tried to get me to go with him to CR Hell, but I don't think so. They keep taking money out for a "Truck Investment Fund." $800 a week yet they say they don't have it and it's not in a fund anymore. So you just make a box on his paycheck, take the money and do what, go on a shopping spree for you and your wives and children? Not to bash the Mormons in any way. Generally they are a decent group of people, but these ########## are on a whole different level. He spent 6 weeks with a negative paycheck cause they couldn't find him a student. Really? I seriously doubt that. He's a Phase II trainer, and with all the schools they have, there has to be SOMEONE waiting to phase up. This company with take your sanity and if you're not careful(& by careful I mean really, really truly in love and devoted to someone & willing to put with tons of BS and be on the verge of losing your home and car and starve every month) it will ruin your marriage. We've been married less than 2 years and I go MONTHS without seeing him. It's ridiculous. And when I do it's for at the MOST 36 hours. 36!? So I get to cook him a meal and watch him sleep cause he has to stay up so much with students that he's exhausted when he gets home and doesn't have to do anything. I'm counting down the days he can quit and switch companies. They tell you when you sign your 9 month "demo" lease that you can get out of it anytime. Think again. They told him at first when he tried to quit they'd sue him. Then they told him he just couldn't do, wasn't allowed. What is he 5 going after the cookie jar? The whole point of a demo is to see if you like it, not trap someone into driving your trucks and then NEVER telling him about the recalls on it until the heads get warped because anti-freeze leaked into the engine cause a bunch of #### went bad. And the rooms were never free any one the times the trucks been in the shop and they still don't pay you to sit nor do they attempt to help you eat. There's a macro on the coil-com for Mis. advance. Don't try to get it. You'll just waste oxygen arguing with payroll about it and you'll never get it. Even though all the instructors say you can use it when you're not getting fuel. Apparently that's just one more miscommunication to add to the list between school and headquarters. He comes from a long line of truck drivers and my brother in law was a driver before joining the Army and I've NEVER heard of a company being this bad. I know Swift is pretty awful from what I've heard, but I still think CR Hell takes the cake. Find a way to get a grant and go to a local place to get your CDL or at least a smaller local company that can't afford to have it's reputation destroyed and actually cares about the people and their families that work for them. Good luck to anyone that goes with CRE, I pray for you, your sanity and your blood sugar.
