No, local hourly workers are union and lazy, and unions are baaad, very bad. Don't believe me, it's what the guys at the driver's lounge told me.
I spammed the site about Schneider and my posts got moved here

Most of my experiences with Unions ended the same way. The Unions are out for themselves, and if they happen to help a member along the way, so be it. The 3 I belonged to all had a similar attitude: Do your job, pay your dues, file no grievances, don't rock the boat, and we'll get along great.
Those unions were Communication Workers, Teamsters, and United Paperworkers. -
It's my attitude, I read a bunch of posts here. Whatever. How about DBL giving me a 95% loads under 300 miles and often have to deliver the next day or appointments etc.. He goes out of his way to give me horrible loads. I do get 400 dollars often like today, but I worked 60 hours at least, but often I get no paycheck when I go home. I know for a yea it's less then 20K I don't look at it any more and I'm not as mad at the evil DBL he is from some fancy school he is programed to manipulate and exploit lower class people like me, I guess I'm more mad at "smart" truckers who demand I get in line and like what there pricks do.
I think I'm going to get out but before I do I'm talking to lawyers lets see what can be done I have never sued anyone before, maybe a class action something I need to research and learn how it's done, not paying thousands of drivers and benefiting from there work I'm sure is a class action potential.
and don't say you will not get any money I know 40% goes to the lawyers who get rich and 100 dollars to the driver but I feel violated for stealing my time and work without compensation and the very least i can do before leaving trucking to try to get some justice for people who where told to get 60K and get the used and manipulated!
And I'm getting sick of people like @CrankyYankee, I guess we all have to shut up and be good little dogs to theDBL's well know injustice when I see it and Schneider National is injustice. But for Cranky Yankee getting 400 paycheck (average 300) when you take unpaid days off is ok just shut up and deliver loads (I have delivered 200+ load for these people, not even 22K in 1.5 years, go figure and both DBL just love "teaching me"
I'll get out but you all who are attacking me will be more and more slaves hauling for less and less money mark my works unless you stand up and be real Americans Brave Rebels not obedient cowards telling others to shut up and get in line. -

Unions usually take care of those who give back. If you go into a union looking for what they can do for you and give nothing back then you're dead weight and of no use to the union. If you get involved, volunteer, attend meetings faithfully, run for office, help with activities and scheduling and recruitment and more, the union will take care of you. It's the union that prevents garbage like this driver describes. Too many people have poisoned minds against unions and that is one reason for the deplorable working conditions of the average Joe today. I agree not all unions are the greatest as I've seen some that are corrupt and benefit only those inside the clique but in the end I'll take union over non-union any day. Wages are better, the company can't screw you and the company sure as heck can't get you to work for free doing ANYTHING. If I worked for a company that had me chasing my tail and working for free I'd have an attitude, too. Then I'd split. Fast.
BondJamesBond Thanks this. -
Get a lawyer??? You don't even have the fortitude to simply get another job. Maybe your DBL ##### you because you bother him by blathering on and on and on and on and on.........
Get another job with a better company and move on and ####. There are better companies out there if you have a year of safe driving.
Most drivers get ###### jobs for the first year or two with the Schneider type companies, get ###### then get smart enough to move on away from a training wheels company, which is what Schneider is. For most drivers getting ###### around on their first or even their second driving job is the price to be paid for entry into the profession.
If you somehow pull you sorry ### together and get another driving job, leave your attitude in the past, pull yourself together, and start with a new company and a new attitude.
If you had any sense, you would be using this forum as a resource to find out who the best company to work for is that takes drivers with 1 year experience. 1 year of safe driving is the first threshold to getting a better driving job.Last edited by a moderator: Nov 15, 2013

After getting Teamster representation, know what they got? $7.50 an hour, with Goodwill supplied benefits. But now they had to pay 2 hrs a month wages for dues.
Union representation DOES NOT automatically entitle you to top wages and benefits. All that is up for negotiation.
