Nah, it's just a memory now but will keep the pic on here. I actually requested that truck when a guy quit, giving up a newer Volvo. It already had alot of miles on it and only kept it 8 months. They called me the day it rolled over 750. Then I lucked into another one and only had it a few more months when they offered me a brand new Cascadia in September. I reluctantly took it, knowing it was only a matter of time anyway. I took the Cascadia to keep from taking the chance on getting another Volvo later on. The lady in Nashville responsible for assigning new trucks told me there would be a big batch of new Volvos coming in later. She also told me there would be no more Internationals in the foreseeable future.
I'm thinking bout coming over to averitt from Schneider Walmart dedicated in va. I just had a couple of questions what are the trucks governed at, have you guys made the switch to electronic logs? What is the passenger rider policy, what is the average length of freight. Last how long does the drivers stay away from home running regional.
While I can answer majority of these questions and I can only speak of what they were when I drove in the truckload division: -Trucks are at 65mph (at least mine was) -New trucks are coming with electronic logs -I don't think there is a rider policy...never asked about it. I know in LTL thats a negative. -It all depends if they make you split the load...They make you split a lot of loads with other drivers to keep you as close as possible to home. I know my last week in TL i got around 2800 miles. -Your normally home every week. And they are getting more volvos? I was told in LTL were getting new internationals this coming year at our terminal. We already have a new single axle international.
We do have a rider policy that is spouse of the opposite sex only. No kiddo's or grand kiddo's. My average length of haul has been 400mi and I am averaging 2100 miles a week. By year end I have been told that all Averitt trucks will be on e-logs. I don't mind them. Very few situations arise where I wish I was still on paper. Hope it works out for you. I still love Averitt. I ran into a guy I went to orientation with and we compared notes. He loves it as well.
When you work ltl your home when your hours are over. City drivers are home every night but shuttle is home in the day and work nights.
We also have some new single axle Internationals for the city but I recently saw a batch of new Volvo sleepers at NAS.
Yeah I tend to forget sleeper shuttle. Im wondering if Averitt is going with super singles now...I seen a sleeper shuttle last night with super singles on it. I know we've been hauling a bunch into memphis lately.
