Marmon you forgot the occasional "flash" too!

Overall I love it out there too! I wouldn't say its easy but it definitely beats a desk job or most other careers. Sometimes you can get worn down if you are out there for 3-4 months at a time but once you have a few days off you are always anxious to get back out there!

I personally love the freedom and actually prefer the 48 state gig instead of regional or dedicated. You get to see a lot more of the different scenery and such. Though you are still in the honeymoon phase it shouldn't change that much. If you love it then its in your blood and you are always going to want to be out there on the road. I have been through stints of being home for some time and it drives me crazy! Feels as if the whole world is going on without me!

Enjoy yourself out there and always remember to be safe!

That is really cool! I pray that I can feel the same way in time to come. I feel like that now. Just hoping I can hold that feeling over time.

Marmonman, this post sounds like you are an Artisan! Have you ever heard of the Kiersey Test? It's pretty awesome! I am an Artisan Composer Type and can totally relate to your post.

I still love the sound of the big old kitty cat firing up in the morning! The sound of the jakes rattling as you come off cabbage on crisp fall morning!

Watching the sunset as I am rolling west on a cold February evening! Driving thru Nebraska and seeing the combines cutting corn on a clear November day!

Watching a storm coming your way as you drive thru Arizona on a hot summer day ! Driving thru Wyoming during a blizzard!

I have had a lot of jobs. Trucking has its fine points. Being away from the office is one of the best. Seeing the beauty of this country is wonderful.

What I really would like is a job that took the best of all my jobs and put it into one. Salary of a Bank CEO, freedom of the road of a trucker, using torches like the railroading, college girls like when I was a professor, and shooting folks that pissed me off like Vietnam. Now your talking.:biggrin_25520:

I agree. "what the customer wants" is irrelevant to many who want to feel important by taking the 'my way or the highway' approach. Perhaps you can write a browser plugin that allows you to customize the appearance of any site that uses this forum software? Shouldn't be difficult to do, and many people would probably appreciate it. That way the admins can still feel like they're controlling everyone, and the users will still have their preferred experience. It's a win for everyone! :)

Maybe I'll just ask for a refund. Oh, wait...

I'm two days into training. Been a salesman or corporate puke for the rest of my worklife. I'm very positive about trucking, IF I can survive the first year when the money sucks. If anyone is interested, I'm blogging the training here.
