very well said Sir. I read all of the post-responces, and everyone of you, said things very well. Where I work, not a chance. Pharmaceutical company. Extremely picky. Im very impressed with all your responces to this guy.
I could not imagine having to pay for driving school. Back when, Never even knew they existed.

Dude I have a misdemeanor that is 10 years old and it's still on my record. Some companies turned me down, some are willing to listen mainly because it's so old and it didn't involve, theft, drugs, or violence.

The only thing you really can do is talk to some of the companies, they'll say yes or no. I'd try a company that has their own school though so you're not out a lot of money.

It would be easier for you to get a job trucking if you had shot someone instead of stealing.
Some will hire convicted felons with any charge other than theft. Companies can't and won't worry if someone is going to steal the load or the fuel or the equipment.
    Just the way it is.

I'm sure it's probably been said before but any company that has contracts with Walmart will not hire a guy that stole from walmart. Take this for what it's worth. My Father was a salesman. He was one of the first salesman to hit on Walmart when Walmart was a small little nobody company in the Ozarks. I think I can speak for him in that no company that has ties with Walmart would take a chance hiring a guy that stole from Walmart. You can still get your CDL and probably find a company to work for, but I would quit dreaming about getting hired on with any of the major companies that haul for Walmart or any of it's suppliers. I personaly don't care much for thieves because I've never met a thief that won't do it again but putting my personal opinions aside, you can still find work hauling other stuff, such as end dump, scrap, cattle, and other driving jobs that don't haul retail goods. It will just be harder since you have no experience.

I agree with most of the posts on here. I think you already know the answer to your question...you just don't like it. Unfortunately, you've made your bed....now sleep in it. Normally, when someone tells you a story about a crime they've committed, they minimize it so not to be judged. The problem you will face is that most every employer, in the trucking business or otherwise, is going to assume the worst and not hire you. I think the military is a GREAT suggestion for you. It will not only give something POSITIVE to put on future applications, but the life experience and discipline you most likely could use. Good luck to you!

Personally in my lifetime this has been the absolutly worst time to join the military unless you knew for sure you could get on a submarine or a ship.Other than that our boys are nothing more than targets waiting to be blown up while escorting convoys.

Yeah I agree, I had Werner question me over a stupid cell phone ticket. I couldn't imagine trying to get hired with theft on my record.

A TOW truckdriver was trying to TOW/steal my car from MY driveway. I stopped him just in time. Yelled at him, swore at him and threatened him. He called the cops, I was arrested and charged with aggravated assault which is a Misdemeanor. He never got out of the truck and I never touched him, just yelling. Spent the night in jail. Spent 3k on lawyer, he wanted another 4k to fight it. Did not have any more $$ So, I got 18 months probation.
I want to drive. I drove 10 years on 28 ft box truck in Chicago and 3 years as a Limo driver in Chicago. No accidents...ever. No tickets on my CDL.
2 speeders in past 3 years in my 4 wheeler. I have asked this question before, but did not give details. Should I go for it, or stay away? Will any of my experience help? Can I explain to the companies?? I LOVE TO DRIVE. Thank you all in advance. I have never stolen a thing before. I also have a College education and was also a dispatcher (A good one LOL).

I'd say the lack of experience is going to be more of a problem than that little misdemeanor ever will will be. Just be honest about it.

You may be able to get the conviction "expunged" - depends on the law in your state, and how long ago you were convicted, and whether you complied with all of the sentencing terms, and whether you have stayed out of trouble.
Google the topic for some preliminary guidance, then talk to an attorney. See if your county has a lawyer referral service, which might provide for a free consultation.
In some states, if you have a conviction expunged (or whatever term is used in your state), and you are asked on a job application "Have you ever been convicted of a misdemeanor?" you can say "no". Seems weird, but is true.
