I suspect my company swapped engines. Is it possible?

I NEVER idled and my 780 was always up around 18-20%. It's a Volvo thing. I think it records eco-roll as idle time and stoplights as idle time, dealer says no but my previous trucks and my current truck (glider kit) are all below 12%.
Any Volvo dealer can give you the ENGINE serial number that truck left the factory with. Check it if you like. I think the ecm also has its own Vin? Could be wrong on that one also.Forever237, Tb0n3 and haycarter Thank this. -
If the ecm was swapped the mileage on the dash would chance unless you had an ecm with the exact same mileage wouldn't it?Midwest Trucker Thanks this.

There is no "interpretation " math is math. Volvos alway have higher idle times. Mine did. 17 is nothing.

You can take an ECM, pull the info off of it and flash another one just like it - it is cloning.
However the ECM has a a serial number that doesn't change, it can be read by the dealer and the dealer should be able to trace it back to the build order of the engine/truck, they are required to keep this on hand for legal and regulator/law enforcement.Forever237, Dino soar, Elroythekid and 1 other person Thank this. -
Doesn't volvo actually have 2 ecm's one for the engine and one inside the cab?
-
They have one ecm (engine control module). They may also have a bcm (body control module) though.
-
I am pretty sure they either do or did.
Forever237 Thanks this. -
It would if they didn't change it to match. It is programable to deal with things that break.Forever237 and Elroythekid Thank this.
