My first thought is this doesn't sound right.
Do they have the results of the drug screen? Do you have a medical card in your posession? Do they have a response from your previous employers for the last 10 years. I understand you don't want to burn a bridge already but coming from someone who has done the paperwork to hire drivers, it doesn't sound right.
Can you ask any other drivers that work for them? Have you checked them out on BBB or elsewhere?
I think this is a bad sign, what do you think?

Well the end result was they gave the run to someone else and gave me a day run to Detroit. No big deal... He said 'We took care of that, can you do a run to Detroit?' To which I replied 'That's my job...'
Problem solved... -
If I had a CDL, a good medical card and the truck isn't a flaming pile of crap, I'd do the run. If the company didn't have him fill out an app or do a drug screen, etc., that's their problem.
Then, if they paid me on time, I'd do it again... and again... until the money stops flowing.Lonesome Thanks this. -
you are unemployed..
why would you want to turn down anykind of work?
i would say go for it and if its not something you want then just do it till you find something better. -
And a day cab means a comfy motel.... with a shower and a tv!!!!

At the orientation he was worried about missing, they probably would have given him the right dimensions to cut his new plywood bed.
