Congrats.... Hope it works out well for you.
You planning on getting in at least a year? Pass on dump truck next summer? -
Ya thats kind of strange. Up here all our milk trailer were two compartments and some were baffled. They had cip systems with multiple spray balls in them. You had to be carefull when you hauled cream though. We had to spray the inside top of the tank manually before the cip system on cream loads.

Did you get your smoking under control? Or will you get fired for smoking around milk again?
Hopefully not, but I would still work on my hazmat to get a local oil/propane delivery job for when construction is slow.Lord Pablo Thanks this. -
smoking? i haven't smoked in years, i vape. i got fired because i worked for controlling A-holes. the plant that fired me was the 2nd milk plant and 3rd food plant i worked at. don't try throwing the PMO (pasteurized milk ordnance) at me. I am well aware of gpms and food safety standards.
besides i was NOT vaping around the product, i know better. it was outside. the people i worked for wouldn't even allow me to vape in my car.
i know allot of milk haulers and a large percentage of them consume nicotine products.... some chew, some smoke, and at the time i was last in a plant none converted to vaping yet. the industry norm is that you do those things outside. if the plant rules prohibit it, im not staying there all day so i drop off the load and do as i please.
the people i worked for were rotten, nasty, vindictive scumbags. if you think this was some sort of isolated incident, since my departure this small plant has gone through several more people. a plant that employs 10 full time non-management staff has probably gone through 15 or 20 people in the 3 years it has been open, with the 2 that have had some longevity both threatening to quit but staying only for the money. they recently had a girl just walk into the boss's office, toss her time card on the boss's desk and walk out. no notice.
my biggest issue was that i was not given an alternative place to vape..... not told to go across the street or any other area. i was told to quit and seek nicotine addiction consoling. what ever happened to mind your own business? my vaping on my breaks had zero effect on their production or bottom line.Last edited: Nov 3, 2017

vaping is NOT smoking. these people were the very worst people i have had the displeasure of working for and the ONLY time i was ever fired from any job. they tried to fight my unemployment and lost the case. fired with no disciplinary process in place. no written warning, verbal warning, no suspension..... fired on the spot.
the company i am going to work does not go to this plant. if i ever found myself going there, perhaps i should thank my boss. i was on unemployment and the state paid $3,000 of my CDL schooling, costing me $195 out of pocket. thanks A-holes. -
I've had much the same experience. Only the 'worst' employer is the norm for around here. They don't care how good a job you do for them. They are too stupid to be able to work with people unless you give them your soul. You must give them your soul.
I found one good old fashioned employer. He was tough. But fair. Worked for him for 7 years. Then he sold the company. I was out in the first two months. Only thing I wouldn't do is give them my soul.
I'm on unemployment. Got a Grant for CDL school. The whole nine yards. Start School Monday.
Yes... thanks A-holes.Last edited: Nov 3, 2017

intolerable. the place i worked at changed their "tobacco policy" 3 times. they lumped vaping in with tobacco (unfairly there is no tobacco in vaping, its no more tobacco then nicotine gum). it was a new plant; when i started working there, i went outside no one said anything. then they changed it to i must go to my car. they changed it a 3rd time to i could no longer even do it my own car. they literally changed it too the point where they knew i would find it unacceptable.
the one incident i got caught there was no one else on the property. the lab manager came back when i was not expecting it. they left me at the facility every night; with the closest person being 10 miles away. we had hot 190 degree water, caustic, acid, ect. i would be there loading tanks by myself late at night, driver would leave an empty tank in the bay and i would CIP clean and load it.
the first time it was brought to my attention that they were going to change their "policy" i was punching in. i had my vape in my jacket pocket. my boss comes in the room, and points at it..... we need to talk about that, you need to quit..... excuse me?? he proceeds to hand me a "EAP" (employee assistance program) pamphlet and babels on and on how i need to call them.... "we have people that can help you". how about this, i dont need any help; you go sit in your office and leave me alone. i am here to do a job, as good as if not better then everyone else. of, course i didn't say that i just told him it wasn't any of his concern.
it gets even more messed up. the general manager told me he didn't like the Lipton iced tea i was consuming, he was concerned about the sugar content. i told him this also was none of his concern. this went on for about a week on several occasions. i told my boss it had to stop. that jerk did apologize.
after a year of them pushing me and me pushing back they fired me. DONT assume i was "smoking" around the product because that's total B.S. i was no where near the product and i worked for the most intolerable scum on the planet. i hope my upcoming company does not send me into that plant. i have nothing nice to say to them, just stay away from me.
these people sucked -
It has been said: When people go knit picking. They have a much larger problem that they cannot solve.
I say; With some. The much larger problem is that they are incompetent.
