I understand why so many bums hang around truck stops now

    Now that I make nearly six figures in trucking, have no bills and like my job, if someone asks for a few bucks I don't even hesitate to help out since I have so many one dollar bills stacked in my wallet. It's like monopoly money. Plus since I drive so much away from home for months at a time, I don't need a lot in life to keep me happy I got all that I need. Before I was a trucker every penny counted since I wanted to have the latest upgrades. It's no longer a big deal to me even when I was making more income yearly back then. I always wanted the latest computers and such. Not sure if because of older age or trucking that made me appreciate the small things in life (like hot high pressure showers) or both but I used to say no sometimes to beggars but now it's no problem.

    A few years back a recent college grad decided he would see if someone could still make a living in america. He started without any money and moved to charleston sc where he didnt have family and didnt know anyone. His goal was to have a car, apartment, and 2k dollars in a bank account in a year. He slept at ymca and walked into a moving storage company and convinced them to give him a job as a laborer. He met his goals in 10 months. Most of the poor in this country are poor because of bad decisions in their life. Throwing money at them just enables them to stay poor. One of this countries founders (i think ben franklin) said "you should not make the poor so comfortable in their position that they choose not to change it". We have many private organizations and gov programs to help people in need.
