I understand why so many bums hang around truck stops now

You did exactly as the programs were intended. You utilized the service, then went out and got a job, and became a contributor, rather than a taker.
Most folks have no problem with those like you who move off the government assistance.
The issue is those who never get off the dole, never intended to, and have kids and grandkids that do the same.
The time is approaching when there will not be enough government money to support them. I guess they will starve, and I don't really care...

There's a really nasty case of welfare fraud, that is common here. The twin towns of Hilldale, UT, and Colorado City, AZ are towns right on the border of the two states.
They are almost exclusively populated by FLDS, which is short for Fundimentalist Latter Day Saints. In other words, they are polygamists. The men actually marry their first wife in a legal ceremony. And they support the progeny from that marriage. They then take "spiritual wives." Pretty much as many as they want. The progeny from those unions, are then supported by welfare.
Oh, almost forgot, another of the many cute little dodges they pull, have to do with houses and property tax. It seems there is, (or at least was, may have been changed by now,) a loophole in the tax law that exempts buildings under construction, from having to pay property tax. So they build these huge, multiple family dwellings, and just don't "finish" them. You see houses there that the siding is left off part of the house. So it's considered to be under construction, and tax exempt.
Since almost all Utah politicians, and many Arizona politicians are from polygamist backgrounds, this is acceptable practice.

One of Warren's brothers worked for me for awhile. Nice guy, but he came from a weird bunch. Before we put 2 and 2 together one of the other drivers casually asked him if he had a wife and kids, and he flatly replied "Not anymore". Turns out they were reassigned after he was excommunicated.

A lot of that has happened. For the life of me, I can't understand how people can be so brain washed. How can a mother allow her twelve or thirteen year old daughter to be forced into "spiritual marriage" with a forty+ year old man. How could they stand by and allow their teenaged sons to be run out of town, because the old guys figure the girls will get involved with them, and reject the geezers.
How can people in that community, stand by and see a mature woman try to escape from that life style, only to be kidnapped and forcibly returned to it.

He probably doesn't see it that way.
And what exactly is 'moving on with your life'?

My life isn't moving on, and it never will again.
Trucking is simply the way I keep it static for the time being.

It is easy to judge someone, until you are in their place and time.

Moving on is taking control instead of letting your addictions running your life, everybody's has the choice you either take control or get controlled by the problem.

As for judging others...i speak from experience i have been in those shoes before, also i am the one who will give someone a second chances because i believe mosty everyone is entitled to it.

I'm glad that guy is locked up for the rest of his life. What he did with young girls and all his stuff was terrible. His religion is more propaganda like North Korea than anything. I hope he drops the soap too. I'd probably kick his you know what if I saw him. I'm 6'5 265 former college football player so he'd stand no chance.

Sad truth is that he still runs his "religion" from prison. Like I said, I don't understand how people can be so brain washed. Maybe brain dead would be more appropriate.
Oh yeah, to the best of my knowledge, he is in PC (protective custody,) so he's not to likely to end up a victim.....(I say put a bow on him, throw him into general population and say "Merry Christmas" to the inmates there.

If you give money to the bums at the truck stop you don't solve their problem, you just create more bums asking for money from the other drivers. The first thing I say to someone walking up to me, before they've said a word, "I'm not giving you any money no matter what your story."
